I loved Lego as a kid, and keep reading about adults still using them as a hobby. I've often thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun if I went back to that myself.

Years ago I used to play The Sims 2, not for the gameplay, but because of the building opportunities the game engine presented. I had houses that had such design complexity they pushed the game, I believe, to its limits, but even then, I thought it was too restrictive. I could never get into Sims 3, and never tried Sims 4. "Real" home building software is just too complex for my liking.
I think there's a real need for some creative outlet. Lego might fulfill that, to some extent, but it just gets crazy expensive if you're serious about it.
I've seen some software decades ago that let you work with virtual Lego, so to speak, but found the controls to be way too difficult to be useful.

Yes, but I'm very proactive in regards of who I follow and I use the block feature a lot.
I will often start following someone for a few weeks/months and then just block them after a while.
I'm very much left leaning, never had an issue with twitter; maybe I'm just not an activist.
I'm still on twitter. I don't follow a lot of political things, so I don't get the crazy stuff.
It's still a good tool for keeping track of the general news instead of needed to browse a dozen of different news sites.
I'm using Facebook a lot less than before, seems my feed is mostly advertisement these days or unrelated accounts and only a handful of people in my (real life) friend list is active.
Same for Instagram, I only follow a few people with similar interests (food and travel) and maybe 4, 5 local celebrities.
Reddit is probably the only "social media" I use frequently (mostly for food and travel and other hobbies).

For me this Lounge is the only social media I post to. I have a FB account but have never posted to it. I only use it to look up other people - and that less than once per year. I only went to LinkedIn to connect with old colleagues - and the only one I kept in touch with has since died (COVID) so I'll drop off that soon.

LinkedIn is good, as far as I am concerned. In a moment of madness a few weeks ago I joined Facebook, and I am getting forty or fifty aggravating emails/notifications a day.

Well, trump has given voice to modern Fascism obviously. He's enabled hate and made it ok. But he's not to blame for this.. It's the internet . People in other countries can easily call my phone and live outside the law, or try to approach me on the internet. It's a failure of law to keep up with technology.

We're going to strongly disagree on this one man. Very strongly. He embodies the American spirit. Does he lack social tact? Sure. But, he's the best thing that's happened in a long while. People have genders. People have pronouns. People are not trees. If you talk to someone, they have a name and a pronoun. Every mental health professional agrees being trans is not a mental illness and every biologist agrees sex and gender are spectrums (ignoring the binary of body parts) and being trans is normal

I'm in singles groups and it's actually sad watching genuinely lonely and probably decent men trying to use the Andrew Tate playbook to try to get laid. While those men call me a beta and so on, I am just kind to people. I was pushed into an open marriage and tons of women were interested in me, because I was not a prick

Facebook wants everyone on their platform to feel safe, which means 'never challenged'. I disagree. It's good to see you again, too, and I am happy to know and talk to people who disagree with me. That's just it though, this has nothing to do with my sexual insecurity. I promise I've been around the blook way more than most. I do not agree with the philosophy at all that a man can become a woman. He can be girly and that's cool, but it doesn't make him an actual woman. The false credibility of fake professors means nothing. College has gone to crap. It's a joke. It's insanity IMO. This is something no amount of banter will convince me of. However, the Left is trying to make it illegal for me to not use the "correct" pronouns. Surely, any sensible person would be against that, even if we don't agree.

Well, sorry to hear they're being harassed man. Children should never have to take the burden of adults being... well... silly. No matter what you know. As far as the second point, it comes back to the fundamental disagreement. It's not lifesaving anything. It's the mutilation of children while they're still naive enough to believe anything an adult tells them. You can't vote, but you can get an operation without parental consent? They're kids. For all they know Santa is real and they're Captain Crunch. We'll most likely never agree on this, but I don't think it's wrong to say kids have no idea what they want. It's the adults pushing an agenda on them. So, there's no harm in waiting until they're old enough to really decided what they want... not what the parents tell them to want.

I'm deleting the rest to focus on this. Genital surgery is NEVER allowed for children. But because you live in right wing echo chambers, you think that's what gender affirming care is, so you support ending gender affirming care, which doesn't end something we never did, but does end mental support and medication that is life saving.

That being said, that's good to know. IMO a child should not be allowed to make life changing choices like that. They can't drink, smoke, vote, drive and still eat their boogers. They're kids ya know. They'll change anything on a whim.
I will have to say though, I still disagree with the premise of pretending someone is a boy or girl just because they feel like it. To me, saying otherwise demeans women and the female experience. It's an insult to women to say peeing in women's bathrooms is all it takes to be a woman.
