As little kid, I was hooked on electronics and the inner workings of anything and everything I could get my hands on. I was 14 years old when I got my first computer, a TRS-80 with 4K of RAM and a tape cassette based file system. I was ready to start programming.

Three years later, I started working as a software developer, part time, for my school. I actually spent most of my time teaching the office staff how to use the computer and a word processor. But I also wrote programs and I was hooked.

Today is the 23rd of May, 2010. 26 years have passed since that first “programmer” job. I look back and I am amazed at what we have accomplished. I remember those early days and I remember, quite clearly, the attitudes of my classmates and peers. I was a geek and back then, calling someone a geek was not a compliment. Most of us ignored the teasing and the taunts and began to turn science fiction into reality. Look at what we did; we changed the world and the world is a better place!
