Rant:
We have these chip reading gas pumps that want a pin if you are using a debt card, a zip code if credit and curiously there is a hardware button that says bypass pin.
On all the pumps, bypass pin has been pushed so much in favor of all other zip or pin choices that it is cracking from wear.
If the pin can just be bypassed, lines and lines of code could have been eliminated and all the gymnastics that are required to tank up the old heap could be reduced.

same thing at my area in the states. Some station implemented with some agreement a rewards points system. The first question you have to answer after your card is inserted is. "Do you have reward points" the "NO" button has been pushed so many times on all those machines it does not work. The only way around now is to hit the yes button multiple times like 3. The yes button is beginning to wear out as well.
You have to answer this question before you can even hit the bypass pin or enter your pin or zipcode.

Just like the 'Updates are available. View available updates?' screen I get when logging onto a remote server. It's modal and the only option is to click 'Yes'.

I bet every transaction where the person presses the bypass PIN button is recorded. That way if that person's card is breached they're on the hook for it and not the bank or the station owner. Sneaky way to avoid PCI requirements.

It's the 3D printer and that excellent Chinese wiring again. This time the printer will not heat up anymore. Last time it was the nozzle temperature sensor, this time it's the print bed temperature sensor. Wiggling all connectors did not help this time, so I took off the print bed and looked at its underside.
Ok, the thicker red and black wires are where they belong. It should have power if the controller ever switched it on. But there are also thinner blue and green wires and one of them has been wiggled off by the movement while printing. That must be the wires for the temperature sensor. Simple to repair, but it will happen again. I think I'm going to put some kind of socket under the heatbed and a fitting plug on the wires of the sensor. And while I'm at it, I might do the same for the power wires.
I know that some people here have the same printer (Anycubic I3 Mega), so be warned that this may happen. If it does, be prepared to spend a few bucks and do a little soldering.

Fairly certain this is wrong. but no one else has made any guesses, so ...
BASILICA
Possible Reason:
salt = silica
soft wood = balsa (actually this is a hard wood, but it is soft for working with)
basilica = high building with letters of 'balsa' mixed in it and ending with 'silica'

Take a look at affordable-wireless-security-cameras[^]
I have several very cheap Chinese WiFi camera's like the Techage which work very well, especially the 'Human detection' option, you can view them anywhere via your smartphone, provided you don't mind using Chinese servers.
Could not get them working via their webpage in the browser however but they also work via ONVIF, e.g. with the iSpy Agent software: iSpy: Open Source Camera Security Software[^].
So if you don't want cloud storage you can also use them locally and record on a microSD card, they often can also be connected via a network cable.

I use webcams, if you are going to use wifi based cams just have a look on Amazon.
I wrote my own webcam security system which I have been using for the past 8 years (self promotion link[^]).
I would say more important than the webcams is to make sure that the software they run allows you to control them remotely as well as saving images remotely and not just locally.
