I want to display the minimize box only and not the close or maximize buttons. Is there any way to do this?
Alternatively is there any way to add a button to the title bar and use it instead.

To disabled the maximize button do this in PreCreateWindow()

BOOL CMainFrame::PreCreateWindow(CREATESTRUCT& cs)
{
if( !CFrameWnd::PreCreateWindow(cs) )

cs.style&=~WS_MAXIMIZEBOX;

To disable system menu do this:
cs.style&=~WS_SYSMENU;

This only grays out the MAX box...

This disables the entire menu...
> cs.style&=~WS_SYSMENU;

What I need is remove the maximize and close buttons, not just gray them out. I only want the minimize button to appear.

But thanx anyway...

You can draw it yourself (e.g. winamp)

How bout:

HMENU hmenu = GetSystemMenu ( hwnd, FALSE );
DeleteMenu ( hmenu, SC_CLOSE, MF_BYCOMMAND );

Oops - just realized that you want to get rid of the buttons entirely - this won't do it. You may have to take over WM_NCPAINT handling...

I am writing a Win32 program (no MFC), and I need to display a context menu.
Every thing works fine, except that the size of the menu is wrong.

It looks like the vertical size of the menu is spot on, however the horizontal size is as small as you can get thus not displaying the menu items.

Is there a function I need to call before calling TrackPopupMenu?

You need to get the submenu:

CMenu * m_Popup;
CMenu m_SysTrayMenu

I believe the function you want is called GetSubMenu(HMENU menu, int Pos)

I have played a little around and have been unable to reproduce your problem. Here's a couple of thoughts anyway:
- the coordinates are in screen coordinates, not client (as your POINT that you receive are).
- the two unused parameters in TrackPopupMenu should be 0 and NULL, respectively.
You could try out TrackPopupMenuEx and see if that works, although I cannot really se why it should make a difference.

If you still have problems post some code for us to look at.

Use GetSubMenu(0) this will sort the height problem out

e.g. usage in WTL

::TrackPopupMenu(menuPopup.GetSubMenu(0), TPM_LEFTALIGN | TPM_RIGHTBUTTON, rc.left, rc.bottom, 0, *this, NULL);

You can use the DDK (driver development kit) from Microsoft, is free and it have a lot of samples.
