I did a degree in Information Systems back in 1988.
The course was mainly programming, database design and user interface design(somehow the sociology department at the University also managed to squeeze in some of the pointless theoretical history of organisation philosophy) - this was before the days of the worldwide web.
It served me well and if you can, ensure that the course you take covers those three areas - whatever it is named does not count for much.

I guess it would depend on your interests. I took up IT on a university from our province and it pretty much covered the essential things with regards to computers. But it focused more on programming. Never heard of ICT though. I'm not sure if the curriculum also applies on those reputed computer schools (STI, AMA, etc) here in our country. I guess it differs from school to school. Try to ask for the subjects for the courses and see if it fits your interests.

Hey, I am an ICT undergraduate student in India. The program is rigorous. As the name itself suggests, ICT - Information and Communication Technology, you'll be taught courses from both the streams i.e. Information Technology and Communication Technology. So you will definitely have more knowledge than your peers but you'll have to put in a little more efforts.

Don't lose sight of the fact that the main purpose of what you study is to make a living. The Computer Engineering degree will probably create more opportunities for you simply because it has the boardest scope.

My recommendation, check the subjects on all of them and choose the one that fits better what you want to do or learn.

If you want to maintain servers and do tech support, go with IT/ICT. If you want to be a programmer, go with computer engineering. You can become a programmer with an IT degree or no degree at all, but since you are already in school, do yourself a favor and take the hardcore programming courses if programming is what you want to do. It may seem hard now, but it will make things easier for you in the long run.
Don't avoid a course because it's difficult. Those are usually the best courses, the ones that will really prepare you for success. Take the hard course, because when you get out into real-world programming, it will be harder than that and you will have less support while facing greater consequences for failure.

I got into the IT business in 1976 by building a fence. Of course the term IT didn't exist at the time. (Or at least, it wasn't talked about.) CE wasn't a term at the time either, I had an ME degree when I was building that fence.
Anyway, always be willing to learn something, you'll do fine.

For xmas I am expecting to receive a PS4 from Santa.

As far as I am aware, when one is in the Pre Order stage, it is when one has not actually ordered yet.
I would like to know if there is somewhere available IRL or Online where I can actually just order one, rather than wait to order one via a pre order service.
I bet this 'Pre Order' shite is a merkin import designed to bastardize our language further with inane and stupefyingly crass neologisms.

Pre-order is just a term for ordering something which hasn't been released yet, it's as good as placing an order, and when the item is available you get charged and it gets sent. You don't have to do anything extra upon release.
Problem is the fact that I'm pretty sure the all stores have allocated all their pre-order stock now. Some keep popping up from time to time on different sites (best to track sites like HotUKDeals), but disappears quickly. Last I read, anything preordered before August gets release day despatch, anything after that you might get it before xmas...

They have Orders that they have already allocated, but no stock.
It can take a container ship a good few weeks to arrive at Southampton etc - also it is not rare for the quantity received to be different to the quantity on the shipping note.
So until the container is unpacked they don't necessarily know how many they will get.
Many companies will allocate stock against what they believe is arriving in the next container.

A benefit with preorders is: you can usually always revoke them.
So you have a order pending. It's not an order yet. They may even cancel the order on their side if the product gets postponed or cancelled. And you don't get charged as long as they don't know when they can't deliver to product to you.
"Preorder" is maybe not a very telling word for describing what it really is. But the term got established over the past years and pretty much everyone knows now what is meant by it.
How would you call such an order? Just an order? How would you know that you won't get the product you ordered in the next few weeks or even months?
I think it's a good thing that they at least try to distinguish those two types.

I agree with you, but it does p* me off this whole 'pre-order' malacky. What about when I ordered my Super Yacht? It hadn't even be designed, let alone built but it's still a bloody order!

Did you order it from someone who was going to design and build it? If so then you placed an order with them to produce it for you.
If you ordered it from a retailer who is simply going to deliver it to you when they get some then you placed a pre-order for it.

pre-order is simply a term that was required to differentiate between ordering something that a company has and ordering something that a company doesn't have yet.
It was created to make things clearer for consumers.
This industry we are in has long been reusing, re-appropriating, and bastardising words, and creating conditions in other industries whereby it is sensible to do the same.

I think the term pre-order is probably just an abbreviation of pre-release-order, and the ones creating it were lazy on typing. 
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

It is called "pre-order" because the order is not done yet, and there is a non-zero probability that it never will.
When you order, the contracting is done, (meaning you have to pay whatever happens and they have to ship whatever happens). There is also a maximum legal time for them to ship you the ordered thing, and you have a legal protection delay to cancel the purchase.
When you pre-order, no contracting is done. They merely tell you that they will place an order as soon as the goods is available, which may also never happen, or at least not in the time range you would expect it. You can also cancel your pre-order without being charged.
