Actually, I am creating a site where user can post message or reply to it just like code project.
I want to display the messages in just Code Project's message board like tree view structure.

Hi guys

I have a custom control with a template which basically just acts as a placeholder for controls. Here is example code for how to use the control:-

            <asp:CheckBoxList ID="CheckBoxList1" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="CheckBoxList1_SelectedIndexChanged" AutoPostBack="true">
                <asp:ListItem Text="First Option" Value="1"></asp:ListItem>
                <asp:ListItem Text="Second Option" Value="2"></asp:ListItem>
            </asp:CheckBoxList>
        </div>
    </DropDownContentsTemplate>
</cc1:DropDown>

As you can see the DropDownContentsTemplate is just a placeholder for adding controls. And I've added a CheckBoxList control. The OnSelectedIndexChanged is set a an event in the code-behind and AutoPostBack is set to true, so that it'll postback when the user selects a checkbox. However the event doesn't fire for some reason. I'm assuming there's something special that I need to do with the template. Could someone please tell me what I am missing in order to fire the OnSelectedIndexChanged event.

It depends on how you render the template.

Look into the page source and see how the checkbox list is rendered. Compare it with another checkbox list which is not in the template.

Hi all when im trying to create a new ASp.Net web appication im getting the error

"The web server reported following error when attempting to create a web project located at the following URL 'http://localhost/Webappicatiion1'.
'Http/1.1 500 server Error'

Whta will be the problem with this

Look here[^] and see what HTTP 500 error code means. It is internal server error. Is your IIS up and running?

Take browser and type http://localhost and it should open the default website or IIS welcome page. If it appears, your IIS is running. BTW, why are you creating project on IIS other than using the inbuilt ASP.NET development server? For using it, choose the file system type project.

your IIS is not running.... if you are still on developing phase, try to run ur web project in Visual Studio IDE, i'm sure it will create a virtual IIS.... somthing like "http://localhost:1234/default.aspx"....

In my aspx form, I have an HTML table which contains rows and columns (tr and td). In one of the row, I have one label control and one text box and in another row I have another label control and a drop-downlist containing data.

My requirement is, on runtime, I need to make these rows visible and hidden based upon some conditons. I know that by giving an id to the row it can be achieved. But how it should be coded in codebehind? Any idea on this? Or is there any other better way of doing this? Can anybody please provide any help on this?

1 - Make that table asp:table. So you can access it from code behind. Or setting runat=server will also allow you to access it from code behind.

2 - Or, put the items that needs to be hidden/visible in a panel and use the panel from code behind.

The easiest way to make things hidden or visible is Javascript and CSS. This takes the load off compiling anything on the server and lets the users' browser take care of it. Take look at this page and see if it is something you'd like to try-

caching problem with firefox

Hi all,

i want to disable caching of my web page on the client side.

For this, i am adding a cache-control:no-store header to the out going response in my asp.net page.

It is working fine in IE but with a limitation in Firefox.

what i learnt is Firefox is maintaining 3 caches.

i.Memory cache

ii.disk cache.

iii.offline cache

when i sent no-store value in cache control header,i observed following things when i open the page.

1.i typed about:cache command in a new tab to see all the caches.

2.page is not added to disk cache and offline cache

3.page is added to memory cache

4.when i close the browser window,memory cache entry is now removed.

*what i need is..is there any workaround so that my page is not added to all 3 caches of firefox.

actually we can do it manually by configuring the browser but i think we cannot do this ourselves on all the client browsers who are accessing our page. and also we cannot instruct the user to close the window after he finished browsing our page.

Since this is browser controlled, I don't think that you can prevent it from adding to memory cache.

You post a constant stream of questions that leave me feeling you are totally untrained and have absolutely no idea what you're doing. I also get the feeling you've never invested in a book, a class or even bothered to try to use google. Why are you persisting with this if you're not willing to apply yourself ?

This is so trivial. DateTime.Now tells you the year today. So, add years to your drop down from today back to what ever hard coded starting year you like, or a specific number of years if you prefer.

Hello Everybody

I have more than 20 pages on my application

Example: default.aspx, product.aspx, order.aspx, login.aspx, resister.aspx, offer.aspx etc.

Just think, A new customer visiting my website and likes some product from my website. He added some product on ShoppingBox. After that he clicked ORDER button.

You know without logged in no one can place any order but that customer is totally new. So Customer need to resister first to logged in. Also he added some product on shopping chart.

My question is:

1. After resister and logged in how can I send back that customer to order page
2. How can I show that shopping chart which customer is added

Any solution !!

typically, a login page takes the redirect page on the URL. And you'd store the cart contents in a cookie or the session, if they are logged in, or not.

Is their anything I can do:

After Logged In page will be redirect to previous page

Example:
If i click login btn from product.aspx then login.aspx will come. After logged in page will be redirect to product.aspx

Do it now. You'll see that CP does exactly what I was talking about. It redirects to the login page and passes to the login page, the page to go back to, on the URL. So, once you login, it reads that value and navigates back to that page.
