i tried the foll code 4 updatin in db its gettin updated but the current value is not gettin updated in datagrid only the old value is present in txtbox.. please help..im attachin the followin code.

This looks really messy, have you stepped through it to see what happens when it fails ? Do you need the Item.Cells.Controls code, because that really is nasty looking and seems fragile.
Is this a winforms app ?

Hello.
I have a small question/problem.
I have this text file:
0<br />
0 0 0 15 15 7
end<br />
<br />
1<br />
1 1 30 25 25 240 240 -1 5
end
I read it into an array in C#, but in my array I read it in as
0 0 0 15 15 7
1 1 30 25 25 240 240 -1 5
Since this is a easyer way of manipulating with the data, but now I want to save the data to the text file.
I know the line number of my array, but that does not add up with the orginal file since I stripped som things
So my question is: How do I save the manipulated data so it fits with the orginal data?
My code looks like this:
string[] SaveMonsterLines = File.ReadAllLines(XMLfileLocation);<br />
SaveMonsterLines[linenumber] = "1 1 30 25 25 240 240 -1 5 // 1";<br />
File.WriteAllLines(@"D:/output.txt", SaveMonsterLines);

If you throw away information, then you need to remember what it was, so you can restore it at the end. Or did I miss what you were asking ?

All right..
I will try to explain again
I have the array MonsterDataArray which contains the data from the text file
The array looks like this:
0 0 0 15 15 7 // 0
1 1 30 25 25 240 240 -1 5 // 1
And both of the lines above has a line number in the array which is 0 and 1
Now I changed something in my array. Lets say I changed line number 0
I changed it from:
0 0 0 15 15 7 // 0
to:
4 7 2 30 45 9 // bleh
Now the line number 0 is updated in the MonsterDataArray, but it is not updated in the text file
This is where my problem is.. I dont know how to save the changed line number 0 from my MonsterDataArray to my text file because if I use my current code the line number from my array doesnt match up with my text file since I removed some things

Now I got the saving text working by not removing any data from the text file so my array looks like this:

But now I ran into another problem
I have a image where I draw ellipses on with the coordinates from my text file (X: 15 Y: 15 and the 2: X: 25, Y: 25). It triggers on the paint event from the image
I also have a mouse down event on my image
I save all my ellipses in a list called
List<rectangle> mapRectangleList = new List<rectangle>();</rectangle></rectangle>
When I do mouse down I see if the mouse is over a ellipse. If it is it jumps to a specific line in my MonsterDataArray, but the problem is when I save all my ellipses in the list I dont take end, 0, // and the other things from my text with. I only take:
1 0 30 25 25 240 240 -1 5
2 0 30 35 35 185 132 -1 10
So when I jump to specific line in my array the line doesnt match up

Hi,
I'm building a program that needs to constantly update using a timer.
In order to make the updating exclusive to the rest of the program, I want to do it on a different thread.
How would I go about adding an event to another thread?
Is it as simple as adding the event and method to the timer in the new thread?

The way I do it is to use the backgroundworker and use the reportprogress event to send back messages from my main thread.

I'm writing a section in my C# app that allows the user to add a text object that I've written. I am storing the rendered text in a bitmap so GDI+ won't be drawing text everytime the screen needs to be refreshed. Here's the problem:
I have resize handles that allow the user to expand the area to accept a bigger font size. I want the bitmap to only be the demensions of the MeasureString() method. When using the MeasureString() method, I get different returns on the width when the user expands the resize handles to the right. The text attributes haven't changed!
Here's an example that will return two different Size values:

Hi,
it is only natural that different rectangles (areas) result in different sizes:
MeasureString and DrawString apply word wrapping when the maximum width would be
exceeded; so providing a wider area is likely to result in a larger width and a
smaller height.
If you want to check visually, perform DrawString under both circumstances.

I'm not sure if you read my example but what I had demonstrated was the exact same text and both bounds widths would have been plenty wide to accept the text on one line. I realize that word wrapping can occur for long strings but this example shouldn't do that.
Any other ideas?

Hi,
your example wasn't clear to me, you did not show the values you got for s1 and s2;
and I don't know whether wrapping occurs or not.
If you allow for a few spare pixels, in my experience MeasureString very well predicts
what DrawString will do, provided you give them the exact same job (string, font, width,
etc). (There is at least one CP article explaining minor errors in MeasureString, hence
the spare pixels; these errors never bothered me).
If you need more help, please provide more details, actual values; also I suggest you
look at the DrawString results, and if relevant show it to us too.

In Unix I can "tail" a file, whereby I can dynamically see what is being written to the file in real time (explaination is for those who don't know!).
Can something like this be acheived with C# and a windows form?

Maybe yes, maybe no.
Text files are (generally) sequential rather than indexed.
Without an index you can't just jump to a "line" and read it; you need to read until you find what you want.

Yes, if the file is not very huge (hint for very huge: size greater than 75% of your RAM), use File.ReadAllLines method to store the data of file in a string array, and depending on the input from the user (or whatever) display the line.

Unable to install and run .Net application which uses COM Interop. Please offer suggestions.
The Following message occurs on the target machine:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComException(0x80040112): Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {248DD896-BB45-11CF-9ABC-0080C7E7B78D } from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80040112
At Esc.Tos.Utilities.TCP.escTCP..ctor()
At clsTCP..ctror()
At mdlMain.ConfigureGlobalItems(frmMain theForm)
At frmMAin..ctor()
At Program.Main()
Of course the application runs dandy on the development box, and other development boxes.
Background and useful information:
1) Com object 248DD896-BB45-11CF-9ABC-0080C7E7B78D is the Winsock v.6 control.
2) On the target machine there is application A and application B
Application A is a VB6 application which uses said COM object and sends TCP Messages
Therefore, I assume that com object is correctly install and functional.
Application B is My .Net application and throws the above error.
Things I have tried:
1) Copy OCX locally and reregister
2) Run RegASM on the Interop Assemblies
3) Clean the registry
4) Validated the Interop code is pointing to the correct OCX. (using Lutz)
5) Installed applicaiton onto alternate development box using xcopy and life is good.

Install VB6 tools on the machine you need to deploy.....it will do all what is necessary to run it!
