If you want to do things dynamically on the client end, then this is vital, b/c you will want jscript, not C# solutions. you can set the regex applied to a regex validator in your code behind, this is not an issue. Generating regex from a number, is not really possible. I mean, there are tons of different regex which all will match 34.56. If the regex is always a double, and you just want to set the number of significant figures each side of the decimal, that's pretty trivial. \d{2}\.\d{2} will match the above, and you can just change the number to change how many figures there are on either side. You can save the state of a form, and then recreate the form's state from that data.
