I want to put a small chat application in my webpage.
To chat only 2 people admin and client.
any ideas.
i tryed with http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/SimpleChat.asp[^] But from this no.of people can chat.
i want to do only 2 people chat
can any one give idea

Hi all
I am working on a asp.net2005 application. My problem is i have to get the preview of a image just by browsing the file. The upload control is HTML control so how to display the picture just by browsing the file. I really don't have any solution now. i searched a lot for the solution but didn't got any.
Earlier i did a similar application but that time we had a upload button on the page so it was easy.
If any one can help with code pl

I'd imagine if you insert an img tag that reads the local file path, that would work.

hi all,
i am calling the exe from webapplication like this
startInfo = new System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo(@"obj\Debug\Mainform.exe");
p.StartInfo=startInfo;
p.Start();
probelm is i am unable to see the exe ans this exe is running in the task manager.
i want to see the exe(gui winform)..
how can i do this

You can't.
1 - the ASPNET user is running the exe, which means you won't see the UI
2 - obviously when yuo deploy this app, the exe will run on the server, so the clien't couldn't see it anyhow

Hi all,
I wan`t to display a datagrid which has 3 fields.viz a checkbox as template column, a bound field followed by another template column with an image button.
Basically the query fired for filling returns me 5 columns.I wan`t to format the bound column as combination of 2,3 and 4 th column(not just concatenating).How do i set the datafield value then.
I used another approach for this purpose using a datatable with my datagrids autogeneratecolumns true,
but the problem is that all the template fields appear in together at start and the bound field at last.which approach to choose and how to go about it?

I needed a way to display formatted posts (i.e. preserving the font styles, background color etc). So I thought of storing html text to my database. This way I can just insert my post in between "div" tags.

But how do I post the html text to the database? Do I have any control where it is easy to compose in rich text, and then, get the equivalent html for it? Or do I have to come out with a logic to obtain html text from such a control?
But first I want to know if there is anything that would allow me to compose my posts with rich formatting like how most blog websites do (blogger.com or wordpress.com)

And, how should we use this editor? Should we install it on our server...?

Check Their homepage, it also have extension for ASP.net. But it woud required to Link dll to wep page and put also a certan javascript in to use it. And i say again. Check their homepage. Everything is there.

I have a botton on my page, which should write something in sessions and then open a new page.
There isn't any target in the link button, so I choosed to make a Page.Register to open a new window.

When I run the code in Firefox it works ok, but when I run the code in IE7 I get the following error (and the new page don't appear like in Firefox). I have disabled popupkiller in IE7 and turned of my firewall, so there isn't any kind of popup killer.

I am working on a custom control that inherits from the GridView control. What is the best way to filter the data it displays? I want to the gridview to do the work, not the supplier of the data.

The user selects from list of unique values in a given column. On that selection the gridview should look at its data and filter out all records that do not match the selected value on the selected column.

Well, assume you are binding GridView with a DataTable. It contains a select method which returns DataRow array. So your custom control needs a public property or method where user can supply the filter. Then apply that to your DataTable and show the result.

I want this all to be self contained in the gridview control. I dont want the page that the control resides on to have to do anything more than give it the original data. In the same way that you can just turn on paging or sorting, I just want to be able to have filtering. My question is, working within the framework of the custom control, where do I filter the data, without destroying the original source of the data
