Hi,
I've installed IIS and published a few pages for use in a LAN.
When i'm viewing the pages from the machine where the IIS is instaled (e.g. http://localhost/mypage.htm or http://servername/mypage.htm) I'm able to view all of my pages.
Howeve, when I try to view the same pages from another machine on the LAN (using http://servername/mypage.htm) I'm unable to gain access and receive an "page cannot be viewed" error.
How do I configure the IIS to allow access from remote computers?

It's already configured for this by default.
Do you have windows firewall activated on the computer? Have you allowed http for the connection?

1) Yes I do have the windows firewall on. Do I have to turn it off completly or can i do it partially, for instance only to the virtual directory of my web site?
2) How do i anable http for the connection? i'm not sure i know what you mean.

No.
You could turn it off to quickly determine if that's the problem. Once you have done that, you turn it on again, and allow the specific traffic that you need.

No. The firewall blocks or allows certain types of traffic, like web requests. It doesn't care what url the web request contains.

Open the properties for the network connection, got to the Advanced tab, click on Settings..., go to the Advanced tab, select the network connection, click Settings..., enable the "Web Server (HTTP)" service. Click OK all the way out.

The default IIS setting is that it is allowed, and I didn't change that. Sould I disable it? What does it do anyway?

Hi all,
I am trying to create a datagrid to look like this pic below the data is stored in 2 tables the ScoutAssignment table and Match table, my initial plan is to use sql to all the scouts that have assignments for the selected week, build the table outline using this method, fill an in memory datatable with all the matches that have assignments during the week and loop through the original table (of scouts and dates) fillin the cells where the scout has an assignment……
but Im wondering if its possible to fill entire datagrid using sql or if anyone has any better suggestions or advice it would be appreciated

This sounds like a job for the GridView control. You can create a stored procedure that joins the two tables. Set the stored procedure as the selectCommand for a SQLDatasource and bind that SqlDatasource to the GridView control.

Hi,
i have placed few image files in webserver.When i am try to download them,they are unable download.Because the file name consist of word not allowed by the server.For example "Happybabe",here babe is not allowed,"stripout" here strip is not allowed.Do we have any tool that list ,what sort of words are allowed by webserver,or they are abusing word.

It's more likely that the filter is installed in the network that you are browsing from, than in the web server. Are you for example surfing from a school computer?

you can make the small one a link to the large one
something like:
<a href="images/001_large.jpg"><img src="images/001_small.jpg"></a>
this depends on how you sore and display your images , but the idea is simple.

Hi,
for some reason, the "Show All Files" button in my solution explorer is disabled.
I started a new Website project, selected ASP.Net, filesystem, in C#.
But no matter where in the solution I click, I cant click this icon, its disabled.
PS: I'm actually following a webcast, and it starts by manually pasting some files into the project directory, clicking show all files, and then "including" them in the project.
Any ideas?
