No ( as someone said ) BUT the express editions of VS2005 are free, you can use those to get a leg in on .NET 2.0, at least.

SetupDiGetDeviceInterfaceDetail(hDevInfo, &devInterfaceData, devInterfaceDetailData, dSize, &requiredSize,&devInfoData);
devInterfaceDetailData->devicePath returns a unicode USB flash drive directory. How can I read files one by one stored in that directory.
The returned devicePath looked like this:
\\?\usbstor#disk&ven_lexar&prod_jumpdrive_sport&rev_3000#106a11161813070406&#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}

Hi,
I'm facing a weird issue on one of my applications on a customers machine. I cannot reproduce it on my machine but I'm trying to understand what might have happened according to the log.
Basically the following code is executed:

The following information gets logged:
10:58:07 | Error | HiddenCategoryFeaturesLabelModifier::Modify - Die Eingabezeichenfolge hat das falsche Format.
at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info)
at DE.IVU.FilialInfo.Map.ThematicMaps.Modifiers.HiddenCategoryFeaturesLabelModifier.Modify(LabelProperties properties, Object[] values)
Two things seem weird to me:
1. Although I'm using Convert.ToInt32 only System.Number.ParseInt32 is logged with the call stack.
2. The log call in the exception handler isn't done, which is weird because the first exception occurs in the number conversion routine. Thus I assume the cast and the property getter Value are working fine. But why aren't they within the handler?
Basically my question is if this behavior can be explained with the optimizations happening in the optimized release build. Does optimization really replace higher level calls with lower level calls?
(Just as a note: _log is a log4net.ILog instance and I assume it is working correctly. At least I didn't have any issues with it till now).

As far as I know, Convert.ToInt32 does a check for null parameters and then passes the parameter to lower level methods. However, I still would have expected to see Convert.ToInt32 in the stack trace.

The _log.Error call is done, therefore I assume the _log.Info call is done, too. What filters do you have applied to the log? I typically set the log4net filter level to WARN or ERROR in release versions.

I'm logging all levels. To be sure I just made a quick check and saw many other log entries of type Info (even coming from the same logger instance) but this one is missing.

The Convert.ToInt32(string) method just checks for a null value, then calls Int32.Parse. It's quite possible that this code is inlined by the compiler.
The inlined code would in that case resemble:
string temp = ((Key)values[0]).Value;
int sourceIndex = (temp == null) ? 0 : Int32.Parse(temp, NumberStyles.Integer, NumberFormatInfo.CurrentInfo);

Visual Studio 2005 includes a stand-alone web server - a derivative of the Cassini sample[^] - which can host ASP.NET applications when debugging. This is very helpful if you're not a local administrator.

If your subject is the same as your text, the subject is way too long, or the text way too short. Or both, as in this case.
Don't write everything using bold.
You have to be more specific for anyone to be able to help you. What do you mean by "posting" characters in a textbox? What is it that is special about the characters? Why the limitation of two characters?
As you state that you want to use VB.NET, why didn't you post the question in the VB.NET message board instead?

I am not sure what the special characters are. Maybe you could use a MaskedTextBox or a MaskedTextProvider.
For a simple fix you could handle the key press event. In my app I just wanted post code data so I limited the MaxLength property of the post code text box and handled the key press event not allowing any chars others then numeric chars to be entered.

Hi i'm trying to build an ftp service which will poll a unnix machine to bring the files back to a w2003k machine. i'm doing it in vb.net/1.1 using vs2003, any tips or pointers getting started on this as i don't know where to start on this one much!

I currently use the .net framework bootstrapper with my app to check if the framework is currently installed on the client machine, that works well and everything. Now what I need to do is somehow include the msde via bootstrapper, so that the msde can also be installed.
Does anyone have any idea how to do this???

Hello All,
I am using .NET Framework 1.1. I am working on a web application. I have a 3rd party dll used in that. Now my project is running fine on my local machine. But when I setup it on the server it gives CS1704 error (An assembly with the same simple name 'SomeName' has already been imported. Try removing one of the references or sign them to enable side-by-side.)
Now I have only one reference to that assembly in my project.
Any suggestion ??

I was wondering whether anyone knew how to go aobut getting a list of all of the keys on the keyboard, like in programs which have comboboxes which allow you to select the keys you're going to use for your shortcut.

Has anyone used the CSLA framework as is? What has been your experience with it? I am trying to figure out whether to create my own framework, which would consist of a subset of the features in CSLA, but not the whole thing (namely remoting) or use it as and extend some functionality to it.
If anyone could provide feedback on their experiences of CSLA.Net I would grately appreciate it.
