Google have made the term 'beta' ridiculous Vikram A Punathambekar3-Jul-06 6:12 Vikram A Punathambekar 3-Jul-06 6:12  I'm not anti-Google, and, in fact, like GMail as much as I like Yahoo mail, but they've made the term 'beta' meaningless. I always thought that when a product reached beta stage, it meant that the feature set was essentially frozen and all they would do was remove the bugs before releasing it. But Google have had GMail in beta since 1 Apr, 2004. That's more than 2 years, in which they've been adding more and more features*! The free service providers do that in thier Terms of Service, whilst these beta services have a different style to follow. VS 2005 handles a lot of things hidden from the developer. If any of these hidden things are changed, VS 2005 is veeeery fragile. It is great when it runs. I use databinding a lot and it hangs a lot. Probably have to know how to use it. Earlier this year I installed IE7 Beta2... only afterwards did I read somewhere that it can't be un-installed! I am using Office 2007 Beta too but Outlook is noticeably beta software. We are using IMAP here and it is slow and crashes Outlook a few times a week. Outlook 2007 is a good improvement though.
