Hi,
I need to make user to access its directory structure, allowing him to choose one folder through the dialog box/ tree view control.... Is there any code for this functionality using JavaScript??

Not in a web page. Only if you make an Hypertext Application (.hta) file.
An Hypertext Application is just a regular web page, but with the .hta file type. This will cause the browser to ask the user to allow the page to run, after that you will have access to the files through the Scripting.FileSystemObject class.

Hello fellow developers!
In the office we got into a discussion on how you should store a zip code in a database. In Denmark zip codes are just 4-digit numbers like: 8340 or 6400.
Would you store them as strings or would you store them as integers?

If there is an even remotely risk that the system at any time needs to store addresses outside of Denmark, I would store them as strings.
Some countries have letters in the zip codes, swedish zip codes are five digits but they are written with a space between the third and fourth digit.

Hi all, I have lately started doing some development on ASP.
Anyways,
I have installed interdev 6.0 at home and office. But the interface for ASP editor looks very different at home.
At home Visual Interdev does not have that 3 tabs, at the bottom i.e. design, source and quick view. While the Interdev at office has those tabs.
Any idea how to enable that feature in Visual Interdev or have I missed installing some components.
I have IIS and ASP script engine installed at home on Windows 2000.
The same problem is there with Microsoft frontpage too.

Well i resolved the problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled the visual interdev component of VS6.
i guess it somehow got screwed up by installing/uninstalling of VS.NET
Things are nice and good.
Is there any suggestion on a good ASP editors (except for notepad or texpad kinda stuff  )?

Sorry, I missed your post. I hope this response is not too late.
For PERL, I've used Speller Pages[^] with success.
For ColdFusion, I've used Jazzy[^] wrapped in a Java class as described in this article[^].

Error msg that I get now running my ASPX page (With graphics stuff in created in Dreamweaver)
All was running fine. Had .NET installed. All working. Had to change the access permissions on my folders to allow IUSER_SERVER access so that my DB's will work. (WHICH they now do) BUT since I have changed my access permissions, my ASPX page just gives me this error msg. Any ideas? What would the access permissions have to do with this and how to fix it?

The background:
We have an internal order management system which is running as a web application. In the next generation of our system, I want to incorporate a WorkFlowManager subsystem. As I see it functioning -- I want this to function as an observer for state changes in specific data items. It then moves an item into the next workflow state and notify the person/group responsible for that stage of the flow.
What I need to accomplish is this:
I thought of running a component in the background on peoples workstations that would sit as a listener waiting for a message from the workflow manager. It would then show a box that a work item exists in the workflow queue for them to review and they have to respond to the request.
The issue:
I need to have a way to know that a user in a particular roll is touching the web .. it may be specifically the workflow web. I then need to check and see if my communicator is on their machine, and if not push it to them. And this is where my ASP.NET skills fall short. Any suggestions on doing this check-and-push approach ???

I'm looking to setup a forum. I'd like to hear any recommendations people have for software! I'm a good C++ developer, but my web development is very limited (I can edit HTML and modify existing code, but I've never written new code for the web), so I'm looking for something REALLY easy to setup.
So far the best I've seen are:
1)Web Wiz

You might try looking at Telligent's community server package. there are various licences available including free to non profits

When I try to run an update query via ASP to an Access DB, I get the error below. The insert query works fine when I run it from Access, but not ASP. I can read from the DB fine, but can't write to it.

Check that the account used by IIS has write access on the directory where the MDB file is.
