Forgive my id ? That's a ripper. Why don't you change it ? If you can't work out how to navigate the site, then perhaps even VB is going to be too complex for you.

I think that is because Dave ripped into him earlier[^] about it.

Why would someone even pick that name in the first place is beyond me. He's a registered user, so I have no idea what he's talking about as far as "turning on registrations".
So, is anyone going to bail him out of his "deadline" problem? It would seem that he'll spend 2 months on the UI, and some other sucker will spend that time doing the "real" work. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Just FYI, this ID is one registered for bugmenot.com (a great site)

I am using VB .NEt windows forms.
I have a form with tab control ( 2 tabs)
Tab1 - has a list box of some ids.
tab2 - has grid which populated based on the selected id in tab1 listbox. The grid is populated by calling a stored proc and using filldataset to get a dataset and grid.setdatabinding(ds,tablename).
It seems to work for several times, after switching tabs several times, the application just shuts down, no error message, nothing.
How do i trap what is happening?
Need help on this. Thanks!

I do have a try..catch block in tabindex changed event and there are no errors. And i am runnign the app in debug and the program exits with code 0.
Also, i would like to add additional info.
The startup form is the MDI form and the login form is opened using showdialog(me) in mdi formload.
If i make the login form the start up form and on click of OK on the login form, if i open MDI using objMDI.show and hide the login form, the application does not shut down.
??? Please , this is really urgent. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I am using Visual Studio 2003 and microsoft .net framework 1.1

Hello all!
I'm using the SDK API for MS Encoder (VB interface) and would like to record dual audio inputs; in other words the sound card output on one audio channel, and microphone input on another audio channel... does anybody know if this is possible/relatively easy?
Thanks

Won't work. You can't cast a foreign app's controls to a .NET control type. You have to enumerate the windows in the foreign app until you find the control you're looking for. You'll then have it's window handle, to which you'll need to send a WM_GETTEXT message. The return you get will be a pointer to the string of text.
There is practically nothing in the .NET Framework Base Class Library that will help you with this, except for some things in the Interop namespace.
The technique is demonstrated in this[^] article. The code is in C++ though. I can't find any VB.NET examples.
[EDIT] Whoops! Wrong link! [/EDIT]

In my Crystal report I want to reset the page numbers after the group band value changes. In the group band footer I changed the ResetPageNumber property to True but the page numbers never reset. What do I need to do in order to get this to work?
Thanks for any help in this matter.

VB.net 2003
Dim obj As New Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey
I need not the Registry and it's function.
I ask only one question.I could not create
a new object of RegistryKey class. what is the reason.
But I give the New I got the error fail to create. It is a
encapsulation class. How can I create this type of class.
I expect any thing from ur side.

Simple. You CAN'T! You can't create an object of this type without creating or representing an actual key in the registry. Trying to create an instance that is not tied directly to the Registry is pointless because the methods and properties in the class have nothing to work on.
The only "creatable" version of RegistryKey isn't creatable, but are RegistryKey objects that represent the root hives of the Registry - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, ...

He posted this very same question yesterday. I told him to create a new key with, but apparently, this is not what he wants.

Hi Guys!! ( or Sir)
I'm a T.Y.B.Sc.Information Technology student studying in Patkar College, Goregaon, Mumbai. We have decided to do a project on A Bit Torrent Client in VB.NET. But we are in need of a library which can help us in the Network Management Area. I would like to know if any of u guys could help me out in this area. I'll be very greatful to u guys coz this project means a lot to me.
I need a library which can take care of connecting to a tracker and managing the peer ids for connection and simultaneous Download and Upload. If anyone has any idea regarding this, plz get back to me at devraj_raut@yahoo.com
I would appreciate the help. Thanx. Bye.

There are no libraries. But, have you looked at the BitTorrent home page and noticed the link at the bottom that says "For Developers - Click here for SOURCE and older versions"?
Why would you want a library that handles all the hard stuff of a BitTorrent client when your project is to write your own BitTorrent client? Slapping a user interface around a pre-written library is not going to score you any points...

And the name you picked for yourself (thecodeprojectsux??) is not going to score any points with us either. Good luck getting any help...

Hi!! Im sorry if i offended this great site by my ID but the registrations are having some problems and i had to use this other ID to log in. Plz start the registrations and i'll make my own ID. And i need a library because the time constraint is just about 2 months and the work to do is Huge. So i need a library to easy the pressure. Nothing else. Im ready to slog but time must also permit. Thanx neways. Cya

You're not listening. THERE IS NO LIBRARY! You have to write the code to implement the BitTorrent protocol YOURSELF. Noone is going to write it for you.

Is anybody using VS .Net 2005 in industrial applications or are you planning to upgrade to 2005 in a very near future. I mean, if you are using this in industrial applications that involves serial and ethernet communications?
Any opinion or related link like "state of the art" will be welcomed
Thanks in advance,
