These do not close a page. window.close() will, with a prompt for the user ( this is javascript, obviously ). I would hope it goes without saying that no codebehind will close the browser.

Not sure what you meant by "close"
1. You can close the window by using javascript - window.close()
2. It is not possible to close from ASP.NET

Try this in your button_click event:
Response.Write("<script type='text/javascript'>window.close();</script>")
What is happening is that you are sending a small javascript directly to the browser and it is telling the browser to close the active window. It works for me.

Wouldn't it make more sense to write a client click event and do it in js, unless you have other code you want to run first ?

Fair enough. I get the impression he doesn't know which end of the cat is which, metaphorically speaking, tho.

It means you have no idea what you're doing and should stop programming until you've read a basic book or two.
It closes a winforms app, it obviously does not have any use in ASP.NET ( well, obvious if you know the first thing about ASP.NET )

Deleting your messages is kind of rude and disrespectful. Your question was answered, what if someone else wanted to read the question and the answers ?

Hi all,
Im selecting a color for event in a color picker. it is saved into the db as hexa code.i want to rerive the values and bind that event into the corresponding color. please let me a way.
<font color='<%# Container.DataItem["FontColor"] %>'>
<%# Container.DataItem["EventDescription"]%>
</font>
FontColor is retrieved as hexa.

The only way I can see, is to have a lookup that checks if the values entered match a known named color.

Hi guys
I want to develop a desktop application for a client of mine who has no web coding experience, the application must be able to download a page from the server so he can update
images and content of a website.
lets make an example:
the client sells cars and wants to remove info on the cars that he sold so he can replace it with another car he just got in..
so he must be able to download the specific page and replace the images there and text.
the pages will be done in asp.net and will be using a master page.. so IN SHORT I just want to change the content without messing up the site code.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have this all backwards. You need to build a CMS that shows details of cars and then had an admin login that allows him to edit/create/delete content.

Another way of looking at this is to have a database point to descriptive text and images that the web site will render; then all your client needs to do is update the database with the new text and images. Of course, you will have to build the database maintenance utility and modify the existing web site to reference the database. Sounds like a nice challenge.

Sounds like your client needs to go elsewhere.
You don't need to download the page to update it. It's a simple database driven application of the type you can find in any ASP.NET book.
