Chris - are you having problems with the newsletter settings? My settings on CP are set to Plain-Text newsletters, yet the one I've just been sent is in HTML

That's weird.
I'm actually just stripping down the email system now to regrease and check the bearings so I'll double check. I might even add some racing stripes and fins. Who knows.

i had similar problem and it was because any friend installed email spam filter catching words like free video download etc.

How's about a dialog or page that appears when you cast a vote, asking you to confirm that vote?
I just accidentally voted on something when I grabbed at the mouse.

Is there a way to change your vote or unvote for an article? If people work hard and turn a bad article into a good one (or make a good article excellent) I should be able to change my vote for that article.

Maybe it is just me, but the CP cookie on my machine does not seem to be updating itself anymore. All the posts since yesterday morning are being flagged as 'new'. It used to be that the 'new' flag got removed before I had a chance to browse all the forums, but now they are not getting removed at all.

I'm getting a lot of foriegn language posts from an unregistered user on one of my articles, despite my attempt to get the idiots to stop.
I would like one of the following implemented:
1) Disallow message posting by non-registered users.
2) Give individual (registered) users the ability to disallow non-registered users from posting messages for that user's articles.
3) Give individual (registered) users the ability to disallow the use of foreign (non-english) languages in messages for that user's articles.
Actually, both 2 and 3 would be good.

the "noise level" is a good tool to handle bad messages.
It could be even better if messages with low ratings are not only grayed out, but fully hidden.
For the author the matter is that he will always receive a notification, but if the problem is not "epidemic", a filter in your e-mail client could be enough.

Easy - when someone starts posting messages like that, they get their accounts turnbed off.
Chris should be aware that this kind of bullshit is happening, and by restricting posting to registered users, HIS users (ie, you and me) won't see the kind of crap I'm complaining about.
The post you mentioned can be dealt with when it happens (which is quite infrequent). I took the time to post articles and contribute on the web site, so I think my request deserves more than just a little consideration.
Tell me how to filter that crap out of my email when all the text (including the sender) is different every fuckin time.

And this can be achieved how?
I understand your issues but how about a better solution: If a user posts messages that are uniformly voted down by members then that person loses their ability to post. This then covers abusive language, unintelligible posts, stupid and misplaced questions and general lameness.
And then, of course, that person can simply create a new ID. Or, more to the point, that person will often be a newcomer and will already have done their damage by the time they are banned.
We either have a stuffy, boring, inhibited site for elite members where people are constantly watching their tongues, or something a little more fun and creative where the occasional problem arises, but which is outweighed by the freedom to be occasionally stupid.
