Steps I have followed:
1. Add EF6Winforms to the project.
2. Add ADO .Net Entity Data Model.
3. Save the edmx file and build the solution.
4. Add EntityDataSource control from toolbox to the winform.
5. Select the DBContextType property of EntityDataSource to the Entity added previously.
6. Add a DataGridview to the Form.
7. Select EntityDataSource as the DataSource of the DataGridView.
8. Select the DataMember of the DataGridView.
run the project. Everything is working fine.

There is no need to have same handler for each button. Instead create separate handler for each button and call the method and pass the button's text in it.

Those are user controls. EntityDataSource is available only for ASP .net as Nuget package. It is not for Winforms.
What is the problem using the given solution? Can you please elaborate?

Don't use CType. Just pass the button text on the click event of button like:
protected void button1_click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
AppendText(button1.Text);
}

Download the sample. You will get 2 projects;
1. Sample
2. EF6Winforms
Add the reference of ef6winforms in your project. After adding you will be able to see EF6WinformComponents in the Toolbox. Add EntityDataSource in your winform and follow the steps provided in the article.
It is working fine for me.
