I would like to know how to run media play on the web. I can create the file but in order for the customer to view the movie it has to be downloaded to their PC then played. How can I get it to play on the web?

okay here's the scenario guys.. first and foremost.. what i want to do is convert documents located in my web server into a '.tiff' image and then download it afterwards, the downloading part is easy and also i have no problem with the conversion because im using a vendor app's SDK named, Universal Document Converter UDC.. but in order to do that, first, I should have the UDC Application and Microsoft Word MSWORD Application installed in the machine (in my case, it's our server)..
The UDC will convert the document into an image by utilizing its Virtual Printer application (bundled with it) but before it can do that the MSWord App should open the document/s to be converted and then virtually print it using the Virtual Printer Application of UDC. Instead of printing it UDC will save it into '.tiff' image..
my problem now is, how will i open the said document in the server without the user of the web app knowing? or if that's wrong how should things be done..

IMO, firefox does not support modal popups. You can use only window.open()

Hi, I'm developing my first web application and I'm trying to make a TD tag work as a link handling its onmouseover, onmouseout and onclick events. Inside that TD is another TABLE with other elements. I fail when I try to change the cursor (while it's over) to 'hand'.
The script I've been trying is something like this:
function Highlight(id)
{
var el = document.getElementById(id);
el.style.background = "FFF";
el.cursor = "hand";
var len = el.childNodes.length;
for (var i = 0; i < len; i++)
{
el.childNodes[i].cursor = "hand";
}
}
The background color change but not the cursor. If anyone has any idea please let me know
Thanks

Nevermind, i figured it out:
...
el.childNodes[i].style.cursor = "hand";

I'm completely ignorant in that...
I want to automatize some procedures I have to follow via web, e.g.
login a certain url, change some string parameters and checkboxes
and finally submit everything.
I don't know what I sohould start from, even what language/script/IDE etc
I am supposed to use
I've heard something about XMLHTTP, but I'm really not sure...
Moreover, I'm looking for a cross-platform script, as I want it to work both under WinXp and under Linux (Debian).
What are the magic words I should Google?
Tnx!!

Not likely to happen, I am afraid. You'd automate a web site by using a web browser control and writing DOM code to interact with it.

Ok, let's forget a cross-platform script...
But what language should I use??
What is the language I should use for automating web-browsing??
There must be one! Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many web sites
that ask you to read the letters of an incomprehensible image in order
to check that you are a human and not a computer software!
Finall, I expected there would be one working under Windows and another
one under linux...

There are loads! It can be done using any of the .NET languages and lots of others too. Its really a matter of choice.

I've outsourced to India. It was always a disaster. Based on the unprofessional behaviour and poor quality of every Indian outsource company I ever dealt with, I am not surprised to see you stooping to posting ads in the CP programming forums. I have reported your message, it will be deleted soon enough. Please don't do it again.

It makes me wonder why people still outsource there.

Money. They do it b/c it's cheap and b/c they don't understand the dev process at all, so no matter who they go with, they will be in the dark.

Yes, and it is their own sad fault for doing so.

Shame on you. Can't you discriminate between a classifieds website (like http://www.sulekha.com/[^]) and a technical discussion forum (targetted towards troubleshooting).
Also, when you use public webmail services, you tend to trade off your credibility in the eyes of potential and prospective clientele.

Hi All,
I am preparing an application that shows reports based on some queries and parameters passed. Some reports contains subreports where i am having problem to make that subreport get rendered. I have gone thru many posts, discussions while googling, where i can only find people suggesting to use the "SubreportProcessing" event and add a handler for binding datasource to the subreport which i did exactly so to find the same error. while debugging i came to know the the method which i had passed to the event handler is not even called, I mean the event is not even triggering. can any one please let me know if there is a way out. is there any limitation for the express edition of the visual studio which i am using in creating application. you can ask me about the complete details finding me @ yahoo messenger. My id is manerijagadeesh@yahoo.co.in
Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys,
Is there a quicker way of parsing a value from HTML code?
How can I do it programmatically to parse a particular labels and value?
example:
your payment1: 300.00 your discount1: 0.05
your payment2: 300.00 your discount2: 0.05
your payment3: 300.00 your discount3: 0.05
...
Based on the example, how can I parse all "your payment" and "your discount" labels together with their value?
I am thinking of using regex but I don't know how to begin with it.
Sample HTML Source:
