Don't call the GC Collect method unless you specifically know what you doing and why. When the GC Collects, it has to wait for ALL threads running under the .NET Framework to pause. This CAN take a LOOOOOOONG time to do. Only when all the threads are paused can the GC safely do it's job. When it's done, all the threads are resumed.

Is there a utility to do this? Can it be done with VB.NET 2003 somehow? I'd like to be able to use pieces of C# sample code, but don't know enough about the differences to use C#.
There seems to be a lot more sample code available for C# than VB.NET.

I found one. Seems to do okay...better than I could do, that's for sure.
FYI, it's a commonly linked page that converts/translates right online, and the page is, of course, written in ASPX - WOOHOO!

i want to find a function takes the mouse for a specific x and y position and click on it
for example if i want to click on the volume icon on the task bar without move the mouse i will order it by the program and i know the x and y position of the volume icon and i will give it to the program and ask it to click or double click

You'd have to P/Invoke the PostMessage function to HWND_BROADCAST the WM_LBUTTONDOWN and MW_LBUTTONUP mouse messages to all top level windows. The wParam of the messages must specifiy which mouse button(s) are involved and the lParam of the messages must contain the coordinates of the mouse click. The low order word is the X Coordinate and the high order word is the Y Coordinate.

Hello All,
I need to compare cells in excel to determine if a combination of three numbers appears within another combination of five numbers (each number is in its seperate cell). I think the code that I have written is partially working, however I am having a problem storing the values of my counter.
For example lets say that these are my 5 number combos:
1 2 3 4 5
1 3 5 7 8
And these are my 3 number combos
1 2 3
2 4 5
1 3 5
Based on the above, 1 2 3 appears once, 2 4 5 appears once and 1 3 5 appears twice. In reality I will be comparing a large number of 3 number combinations compared to the 5 number combos. So far this is the code that I have. j is the row for 3 combos and r is the row for the 5 combos. f is the final value that I will get from my flags:

What kind of problem? What do you mean by "unsure of how to store this value"?
Usually, you'd do something like this:

Not going to happen unless to write a system wide mouse hook that captures the right mouse button and does not pass it on to the rest of the system. Also, writing hooks like this is not easily done in VB6.
There's an example of hooking in VB6 here[^].
This is also a BAD idea. Why would you want to kill the context menu is every app? I can't imagine a single purpose...

Fist, lay off the shift key. It makes your post difficult to read.
Now, there is no support for Bluetooth in the .NET BCL. You'll have to P/Invoke the API calls in the Platform SDK. I can't find any useful examples in VB6 or VB.NET. But, the docs on Bluetooth support start here[^].

Hi
I have designed two classes, one called GROUPE which contain two properties and one called GROUPES being a collection of the first one.
I have generated these classes withe the Automatic Class Generator Addin but I obtain an infinite loop between both classes like:
Groupe
-Groupes
--Groupe
---Groupes
----Groupe
--------------------------
Is it correct ?
If not how can I avoid it ?

Classes can and occasionally do have "infinite" loops. It really depends on how you are using them.

Hello,
I am making a cleanup wizard that basicly shows the user how to cleanup their computer and then does it for them.
I have run across a problem where i want to delete the temp files, the temp internet files and the history(not as important as it won't free up much space)
I know this is possible because it is done in the windows disk cleanup but i have no idea how to do it. I think it could be done with some API calls but i dont know what they would be.
Can anyone help me out?

What is your problem? It's hard to help when you don't give any info.
If you are using Win9x, the temporary internet files and history folders is located in the windir.
If you are using WinXp, those folders are located in
x:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\
Where
x is the drive letter and
Username is the name of the user account.

I am using win XP

The problem is that i do not know how to delete the files, from the directory as the directory is readonly, and ihave been experimenting with system io, to do the function here is the code i am experimenting with at the moment:

 You won't believe how difficult it really is! 
You have to do some COM Interop to clear out the History. You can't just delete the files to do this.
I'll put together a little example when I get home tonight.

OK... I've got an example working. It's based on the work by goblins in this[^] article here on CodeProject. The code to actually make the call looks something like this:

It wasen't very accurate when i compiled it it threw about 13 different errors, i guess the converter couldent convert it completley... I know this is asking a lot but could someone translate it for me? I dont know any C# If not i am sure i can find a way to convert it completely

I'm experiencing a problem w/ my application written in VB.Net. My application is suppose to open Excel, but when I try to create an object using CreateObject function it throws an exception, Specified cast is not valid.
If I declare the xlApp as Excel.ApplicationClass it works, but a get the same problem, Specified cast is not valid, on the next line, xlBook = CType(xlApp.Workbooks.Add, Excel.Workbook).
I'm using Excel 2000 ver 9.02 and the OS is XP professional.
I decided to load the latest version InteropServices, but I'm not using Office 2002. Even though it's loaded into the system the properties for the Excel COM object is pointing to the old version of Excel 2000.
Any help would be appreciated.
