Wondering if a Flash ActionScript Web Programming category will ever be added to the line up?
I use it alot to query ASP/.NET/PHP to SQL2000/mySQL via XML and would like to see if there are any other seasoned Programmers out there doing anything simlar. I realize alot of "Flash Developers" can range from graphical people to programmers which is why it often gets shunned.

Hey CP team, why don't we have counters with access statistics (e.g. a time/user diagram) for the page, the forums or even every single article?
Would be very nice....

how about message posted counter, article posted count, top message posters, top article posters, these are very usefull counters and they are already in place.

Hi, I have a few articles on The Code Project, and whilst I understand the need to maintain quality control on articles, it'd sure make life a lot easier if you could go in and update your own articles after they've been reviewed and categorised. I have two articles that really should be updated but as far as I'm aware, once they're categorized it becomes a matter of email your changes to someone and then waiting for an unknown period of time before they're updated on the site. I think it'd be easier to motivate myself to update the article if I could go and update my article right there and then before my eyes.
I think that if I was able to update my article myself without having to email changes through and hope that they get updated in a reasonable amount of time, then I'd be more motivated to post articles more often, and keep them up to date.

The good news is that updates to articles are now done within days. Nish and Smitha are at the forefront of this and have done wonders in keeping that backlog down to a bare minimum.

Ah, that's good to hear. I still think that The Code Project would benefit from an interface that allowed developers to update their articles straight away though. This is a convenience thing, I suppose. Even though it sounds small, the steps involved in updating an artcile are currently:
1) find the article, "get this article's html"
2) copy the html to a local file and make changes
3) update the demo project zip file
4) zip the whole article up again
5) open email program and poke around to try and remember the email address to use
6) attach and send the email off, being sure to specify what article the attachment corresponds to
It doesn't sound like a lot of work, but it is a lot of small steps. If you set it up so that authors could update their own articles on the fly from the website, it'd sure be a lot more convenient, and in this age of convenience, who doesn't like the little things that make their life easier? Something to think about as you grow the site, anyway.

If you know in advance that you'll be needing to update frequently, a request to the editors that an article remain marked "unedited" can achieve the results you desire.

Finding the article, editing the HTML and updating your zips has to be none regardless of how articles are updated. The only shortcuts are if you could edit the article directly (using the inbuilt editor) and submit it as if it were an unedited article, and have those edits remain as 'pending' until an editor can approve them. Certainly something we can look at doing.

You don't mention what technology you're using - or are you just creating static pages with a tab look on the top?

Can there be a "Deverlopers CP Tools", or something like that which will display the utilities for CP developed by other developers...
for eg. Desktop BOB, CP Ticker, etc... (more tools that I am not aware of  )

No there is no software that gives a taskbar notification to indicate new messages on the board.
Chris may be having a taskbar notification for every sponsorship finance he gets.
