 Hi,
I compile my c# apps on c# builder/visual studio .net at my XP , and it does work great , the problem occurs when I try to run the excutable on another XP/computer , it gives an error message
"The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000135).Click on OK to terminate the application" , the hexa number isn't stable it changes for each excutable.
what/where may be the problem?

I have to write an application that has to track all applications that have been opened. Basically I have to record when an application was launched, from where (which file) it was launced. I have no idea where to begin. Any ideas?

System.Diagnostics.Process

Hi,
you could create an static class, and have a method called "getConnection" from there you can get the connection from anywhere.
Just one advice... I would use connection less, instead of single connection, ... just connect to the database when you need it, the .net Framework keeps a pool of connections so no loose of performance when reopening the connection

There's a difference between defining the connection globally, vs. having a global connection. Defining the connection globally is good practice, and can be done either through the .config file, or through a static variable. Having a global connection is VERY bad, since it will destroy your ability to have proper connection pooling, and even worse, could cause serious problems between different classes if they're all using the same connection at the same time.
Here's an example of defining the connection through a static variable:

using System.Configuration;
namespace sean.config
{
public class Config
{
public static string DataBaseConnection = @"server=192.168.0.1;Trusted_Connection=false;uid=sa;pwd=;database=Northwind"}
}
You could then reference it anywhere in your code by doing the following:
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(Config.DataBaseConnection)
You could take it a step further, and define the connection in a config file. Here's an example:
The configuration file:

<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="mydb" value="server=192.168.0.1;Trusted_Connection=false;uid=sa;pwd=;database=Northwind" />

Specifically, either using the OLE DB driver for Excel (using the System.Data.OleDb namespace classes), or the ODBC driver for Excel (download ODBC.NET from Microsoft).

I have this 3rd part DLL that when viewing in the Object Browser, the Class that I want to work with it public [public class PublicClass : System.Object].
When I set an object to the class [PublicClass myPublicClass = new PublicClass] I get the Compiler Error CS0122 [Class is inaccessible due to its protection level]
What seems to be the problem? Any help would be great.

A couple things come to mind:- While the class is public, the default constructor might not be (or whatever constructor you're using). If you don't specify a default constructor, it is inherited (access modifier and all) from its parent. In your case,
System.Object already has a public default constructor so you're class will inherit that unless overridden. - You may have a type name clash, and the compiler is choosing one over the other. It usually spits out warnings or errors, but who knows sometimes. Make sure you don't have a similarily named class from another imported namespace
Most likely, the problem is #1 above. The documentation for the C# compiler error CS0122 affirms such.

If its a nested class it inherits the enclosing type accessablity. The same rules that are valid for type members are valid for nested types to.
