I'm using PapDesigner[^]. The website is in german, but the software is pretty intuitive. You can
- download it to your computer
- use it offline and
- it's freeware

Big plus for PlantUML.
Once you get used to drawing diagrams by "coding" them, you never want to go back to having to shuffle shapes about.
Plus you can write parsers for the PUML diagrams and do fancy things with them. I've got an experimental state model to code system as a play project, with an ANTLR parser for the PUML diagram.

I have used all the flowcharting tools, all of them, and they all fall flat when sharing or presenting the final flowchart.
In the end, you either end up buying 50+ accounts for an overpriced web-service, or you're printing large and unwieldy A3 pages to scribble on and then remake like a crazy person.. or nobody ever looks at the damn things and they collect dust as they slowly get outdated and superfluous. Looking at you Visio.
That being said, the only flowcharting I ever enjoyed using was Text::Flowchart - ASCII Flowchart maker[^]
It's ASCII, it's for Perl, and it doesn't take a million years to update when something changes.
Easy to fit in a Word document, easy to "improve" by dragging pictures on top.
If you need something fancy looking for 1 presentation, use PowerPoint directly and save yourself a lot of work.

RFFlow is the best flow charting software I have ever used, and I have used many of them. I've been creating flow charts for 30 years. It is not very popular, but you should try if you've never tried it. RFFlow is not hard to use and you can do almost anything you can do with Visio, Lucid Chart, etc. RFFlow comes with a ton of built in stencils and you can create your own stencils also. RFFlow's cost is around 50 dollars, so it is also economical. RFFlow Flowchart Software[^]

We use Balsamiq which creates a PDF with "active links" if you take the time to do them.
You can use it to do Rough GUI, or just boxes and lines (of a flowchart).
I really appreciate that the output can be saved as a PDF. We use it mostly for mockups.
It's really simple to learn.
About 35 years ago, in DOS we used a program called EZFlow... It was keyboard driven,
and arrow keys drew your arrows between boxes. Every box was a single letter (D for Diagonal Decision).
That I still remember it Blows my mind. We cranked out the diagrams for documentation.

I use Figma. Pretty useful for me. I can diagram and then share the diagrams with the customer and contractors

If you have a bunch of smackarooniesUSA to spend I recommend purchasing the Star Wars (radio series). I was fortunate to have heard the 13 episodes of the "Star Wars" radio adaptation during its original broadcast on NPR in 1981. Each week for 13 glorious weeks I was treated to a thrilling experience. I only now learned radio adaptions of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" were also made. Details can be found on Wikipedia Star Wars (radio_series)[^]. I am surprised other works are not presented as radio dramas considering how pleasurable an experience that was. It's day 5 since I tested positive (day 6 from onset of symptoms) and I am finally able to sit upright for more than an hour. The missus (who just got over it) left on day 2 for a scheduled family beach vacation with the kids/grandkids so I have been completely isolated since Monday morning.
I hear it's different for everyone and largely depends on virus strain, preexisting conditions, vaccinations/boosters, age, etc. My personal experience is that it felt like having a bad case of the regular flu that I used to get every 4-5 years. That said, the experience has cost me almost a week of downtime!
Sad but true, yesterday I saw two maps of the US, high temps and covid outbreaks...they looked identical! On a larger scale, it seems the entire northern hemisphere is setting temp records. Knock wood, I have not got it yet. I have both Pfizer vaccinations and the first booster.
However, my wife is a Registered Nurse, working part-time, and I believe it is only a matter of time before it gets me.
My wife says it won't happen because I am so mean, that germs and viruses commit suicide the minute the get into my body.

And they laugh at us basement dwellers.

Ditto, except I got the Moderna and first booster. The new variant didn't care!

Masks don't protect you. They're more correctly termed face diapers because they catch what you exhale and keep it from spreading to other people.

I just reviewed the forum rules stickied at the top, and I dont see any rules listed there that his post violates. In fact, this discussion topic seems to fall pretty squarely within the intended purpose of this forum:
- The lounge is for the CodeProject community to discuss things of interest to the community, and as a place for the whole community to participate. It is, first and foremost, a respectful meeting and discussion area for those wishing to discuss the life of a Software developer.
Getting sick with the ongoing pandemic seems to be of interest to the community and part of the life of a software dev.
What forum rule do you think was violated here?

Again, for the confused among us, this forum is a technical one. NOT a medical one.
There are dedicated forums online for the discussion on subjects like fashion, sports, travel or health concerns and anxieties. There is also professional support for those who feel they need it only a google away.
On this forum we discuss subjects exclusively on computer science/computer engineering.
Read the policy again just as you would read the documentation of an API and find the bug in your thought process if you feel opposed to the above.
Admins/Moderators please take action. There are users here who shall not allow the decades-long quality of this forum to be compromised.
