so there was a project that had a definite deadline, we needed to convert a site that used some old flash components used to display biology slides. while doing research, others decided the best route was to buy from the same company that had provided the flash components; their latest enterprise version was just a JS package.
I read the documentation, oddly spread all over the place. Other than some html changes, and it only required one line of JS. very simple, got the whole site converted in a day. it tested well on Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. and I thought good enough lets publish.
then I started getting reports that on iOS devices; none of the controls would work (slide, pinch, next image....) testing with a remote debugger, there are no errors, warnings or anything to indicate as issue happening on iOS.
So I contacted the company (which we should of had 1 year support with the purchase) no response from the first email, waited a week (hey, maybe on vacation?)
second email, no response.
third email (getting angry) got a response, but they asked us to try and iOS device on one of their pages which did work. discovered their test page was using the Express version and build version was different and didn't have the options available that we needed.
fourth email with the results of the findings and sent a link with our temporary site so they could look for themselves. wait a week, no response.
fifth email (we are now a month and 1/2 over schedule, writing a very snarky email). No response.
others found another package to try (free). it worked will on some slides but cut some of them off by 75% so it was not going to work.
found there was a pro version from the first company that only had half of the features of the enterprise, but it worked with iOS. So I ended up writing the rest of the features to use this version, and it seems to work.
btw: they included all versions of the viewer as -src and -min versions in the package which was nice and the license was fine with modifications as long as the original notice was part of the file. I dug into the enterprise version to see if I could figure it out, but it's around 44000 lines of code with many comments through it saying "this doesn't work in iOS", "need a workaround for iOS" and such. 
it was nice that they included a flexible license, but damn that's poor support

hey,
As the title suggests I am woundering if CP supports any form of short links to articles and tips/tricks. I have added some articles of mine to my CV but they are taking a lot of space and as I dont "want" to use other URL shortners (I am always hesitant to click on a shortened link) i want to know if CP has any way in shortening the urls itself.

If your CV is in word then you can have different display words to the link - are you including the full URL in the text of your CV???

For the print view I do. Some companies will print the CV and for that I have to take into account the layout of the (full)link.

Hi all, I have 4 single board computers each with its own power supply - I would like to have a single power supply power them all ( they have a USB C power input socket ) Despite googling I can't find anything - any of you gurus know a way ( I can't use POE as I can't get a cable to where they are ) I magine something like a powered USB hub with C outlets

Hi Mike, they can be powered using some pins on the 40 pin GPIO socket via patch leads but I have them in cases so this is not an option - thanks for replying

Have you considered a 3-port USB charger such as KOPPLA from I K E A (I won't post a link but google it). I appreciate you have 4 devices, but it would reduce the number of power supplies a little. Not sure if it would provide your power requirements, but it is rated at 2.4A per port. I have had one for several years and I use it regularly for phones & tablets.

I think the power requirements are 5v 2.5 amp for these boards - I'm not that up on electronics so don't know if there's any leeway here

I have got only a couple USB-C devices. Both came with A-to-C charging cables, so they can be charged from any good old USB hub (or whatever kind of charging adapter you use). If you google for 'USB A-C cable', you'll find a large selection.
I wouldn't take for granted that all of these cables have a USB 3.1 A-plug, for higher effects. The cable I got at hand looks like having a traditional 4-pin A-plug, and if your SBCs require more than a couple of watts you must make sure to both choose cables and USB hub that can can handle it. I have never handled any hub capable of delivering more than 2.5 watt per port, but I guess they exist. (Most of my USB equipment is so old that USB 3.x wasn't firmly established when I bought it!)

Your math is correct - and that sort of hub may be slightly above bargain price 
Now, I think that 15 Watt sounds like a lot for a tiny SBC. That probably is a maximum if you put a whole pile of stash onto it. If you've got a plain Arduino, Raspberry Pi or something comparable, with little or no extras (such as LEDs, sensor, motors...) driven off the SBC, the power consumption is a fraction of 15 Watt. (Google '<your sbc=""> power consumption', and chances are that you will find some comforting results.
If you have a lot of equipment powered through your SBC, you should be more careful, though.

Thanks for that, the only thing that might require a bit of extra power is, they are all fitted with a NVME M2 SSD drive
