As a developer I'm not in the default user group at my current company.
As such I was able to install Chrome, sign in, and sync bookmarks etc.
Until today.
Regular users now got Chrome from the sysadmins and the "disable sign-in to Chrome" group policy was also pushed to me...
I can't even access my web mail, VSTS environment, and other company stuff because I don't know the URL's, usernames and password, I have to ask people 
Guess I'll have to export my bookmarks at home and import them here.
No idea why they would disable that policy in the first place, something with not wanting passwords stored at Google (they're already stored on post-its because we have to change them every month  )

Because I've always had them bookmarked and now I don't know them because they suddenly took my bookmarks away? 
It was so sudden that even the sysadmins were surprised this was already enrolled to client computers

I just typed a fairly complex URL right on the first try, including the HTTP protocol (you have to explicitly type that or Chrome will think you're googling)
Don't be bitching about HTTP to me, that's the responsibility of the same people who took away my Chrome sync functionality for safety reasons

If my previous position, we had to change passwords on various sites either monthly or every two months depending on the site. They were stored in a software vault you accessed by entering your user ID and password. In this day and age, there is no reason to have post-it notes with passwords, even for your own.
In my position before that one, they were stored in a password protected document; not great, but better than post-it notes.

My first guess would be that they are not doing a good job of removing ex-employee credentials from the system (AD Accounts, whatever) upon termination or leave of employment, and they have had some problems where ex-employees have managed to login to certain systems/apps, especially dev and test sites.
I could be wrong of course, but I have seen similar things happen in the past for similar reasons.

In addition to my earlier post about changing passwords, previous position policy: if a team member leaves the department or company, all passwords they had access to must be changed within 7 days. No exceptions.

I think they do that just fine.
Our data is VERY sensitive (people's medical data) and pretty much everything is shut tight, even working from home is a temporary IP exception in the firewall (no idea why they don't just use VPN...).
Most of our systems aren't accessible at all from outside the company and most of our employees don't have accounts for the systems that are.
They even disabled our USB ports.
If they're so paranoia about everything I'd be very surprised if they didn't close accounts of ex-employees on time
I'll give them this though, it's better to be overly careful, even to the point where it makes no sense, than it is to be just a little too careless 
It's just that their carefulness is sometimes interfering with my ability to do my job properly and that's where I, very personally, draw the line

I had this the other day moving laptops and chrome did have an option make an xml thing and re import your bookmarks. Keeping the import file as back up might help

Well it's the first time I've seen that, WTF is wrong with these people.
Do they pay for the extra seat or are the airlines forced to allow it for free?
Reduce stress and lower blood pressure - vallium would make more sense and a lot less mess.

Hi All,
Well that was fun, a good 10 mins standing in the cold and they didn't even use the alarm. Worst still I grabbed my coat a left my fresh coffee (mutter, mutter)... Thankfully I clocked in this am...
