I see the temperature in Sydney is deep in the forties Centigrade 
Some joker must have activated a massive heat pump to pump all the heat from the eastern part of the USA to Australia. Stand up and be recognized, you joker!

Perhaps the heat simply stayed where it was and the Earth rotated Sydney away from it? Just wait another twelve hours and see.

I totally agree the earth is flat - like a thin wheel. But let me clue you in: Like a wheel it can rotate around an imaginary axis through its center. QED.

The vortex rotated cold down to the more northeastern regions of the US. Where did all the heat go? Alaska was having unseasonably warm weather.[^]

I was referring to a very very very large generalization of the northeast.
It may have made more sense to say non-southwest ?
You guys just aren't equipped to handle Ol' Man Winter when he's in one of his moodier spells. Little if any central heating, snow plows, and all those nice extras that would be a poor investment (or maybe we'll learn that now it's better phrased 'used to be' a poor investment). That polar vortex has always been there - but with more energy in earth's atmosphere, all of the vortices are increasing in strength (=size, too).
As an aside, when I wanted the plural of vortex, the stupid spell checker already contained the non-word: vortexes - dumbing down has its consequences.

Down here we mostly have heat pumps which don't work well below freezing...in which case the emergency heat strips kick in. This will be showing up on this month's bill...which will still be less than a midsummer month running the AC.

Yeah - that's what my point was. The spell-checker wanted to use the non-word version. Either it just made it up because it didn't have an entry or some dildo put it in wrong to begin with. It considered the correct version wrong.
But - in a world that consider plz an actual word - "WTF ?" (pun intended)

The earth's average temperature is around 60F (15.5C), with variations between spring/fall vs summer/winter. That sounds like a nice temperature. No need for ACs or heating

Don't know , but I have a few clues (that I will keep to myself).
Here, we went from -35c a week ago to around +8c in a couple of days.
Mix that with some snow today, it will very wet at the end of the week.
I'd rather be phishing!
