When I was about 8, I was playing baseball with my brothers (big family) and I was hit across the face with a baseball bat by my older brother. The hit created a scar on my right eye that extends into the pupil... so I needed to get glasses.
Over time, my left eye tried to compensate and now, I have one eye near sighted, one eye far sighted with nerve damage around my right eye that causes my eyelid to droop when I get tired.
I can mostly work and function without the glasses; I wear a pair of tinted prescription glasses to drive.

I'm not sure if it was caused by genetics, old age, or the job. I didn't need glasses at all until around 5 years ago. Now I can't read a thing without them.

I also wear glasses for near-sightedness, and I find myself wondering if being so close to a computer screen for most of the day has anything to do with it.

Anyone else having a hard time believing only 3% wear contacts and another 3% alternating contacts/glasses? We are a small older company with maybe 10 engineers but more than half wear contacts.

I used to wear contacts as a kid. Glasses are just easier. And they don't dry in your eyes.

I like em but contacts for me are waay expensive as I have pretty good astigmatism. Plus I'm 55 so.... yeah who cares.

Personally - the thought of putting something in my eye like that is a little worrying  Plus I only really need them right now because I have a case of the old lady eyes (I started holding my phone at arm's length to see the screen lol) so can pick up different strength readers at the dollar store for reading. My kid and most of her friends prefer contacts, however.

Had lasik, but many years ago. Eyes now have regressed to the point where I need glasses again.

As you age the muscles of the eye lose their elasticity. You get reading glasses. Later you need them for anything closer than arms reach so you get bifocals (lined or no line) and you just wear them all the time.

Only sunglasses when I am outdoors (even when it's not sunny). I like to protect my blessed perfect eyesight.

Only sunglasses but only when I drive. If I get out of the car with them on I feel like I'm not in the real world, I can't stand seeing the world in another shade of color.
