It seems that my notification mails stopped working (again: see also here Bugs and Suggestions - CodeProject[^]
Mail address is the same, provider and computer are the same, junk-email is empty ...
Please check if you can fix it.

From my Point of view "What have you tried" is useless in case it is mandatory. You can fill it simply with "123456789012345678901234567890". It does not give any improvement, it simply makes it hard to ask a question in a structured way. This because "What have you tried" is usually tied strongly to the question....and so I don't like to give references in my Q to "WYT" and vice versa.....
[Edit]And I'm more or less sure, it will chase away new users. Asking a question should be easy "let me only ask"... and not be dependend on follwing some theoretical rules. Otherwhise you can also define, that asking a Q Needs to be structured like an article.
Example: W32 – registerdevicenotification - dev_broadcast_deviceinterface - ansi vs. unicode[^]
Asking a Q should be easy: Of course one has to take into account that this and that Q is not clear (same will be with "What have you tried"). But better for CP to have unclear Q's instead of loosing new users.
If you go on with things like "What have you tried" ... I see it, there will be questions in other Forums asking: How can I ask a Q in CP?

I suspect we lose more users due to being told their questions are unclear than will be put off by this question. Thing is, while yours was a decent question, it is far from typical. The vast majority of questions that appear to be asked tend to be of the variety of "I need X" without telling us anything such as what they have tried and ruled out already, or any indication that the problem has been thought through. These users are then hammered by the same group of the "elite" who seem to think that the questioners are there purely as their personal punchbags. This feature should go some little way to helping them.

Do you mean "it's useless for me, as a question asker, in a specific situation" or "it's useless for every situation and of no benefit whatsoever to anyone, anywhere".

I disagree. CodeProject is first and foremost for sharing code and sharing knowledge. I would rather have clearer questions, and less of them, than more questions that are poorly described, aren't posed in a way that shows the person has thought through what they are asking, and/or are phrased in a way that makes it obvious the poster hasn't even attempted to find a solution themselves.
Suggest an improvement that will guide those who are unable (or unwilling) to post their questions clearly.

It was just my small contribution to this topic. Do not bother too much about it.
I only remember when I was new here. I was lot of times criticized for my questions... but with time I learned how to ask a Q giving an Answer.
I don't think the new option does really improve this learning phase. Give People a Chance to learn here. I learned a lot here like ... how to express me ... calm down when something was not in my favor (that is the most important Thing and hardest part I learned here).

I understand that this forum is not primarily to “socialize” members, but it can/should be a part.

Do they have really the chance?
I had some luck (?, yes it was really ok and helped) to be confronted with SAK at my very beginning. I don’t know why, but SAK that time was patiently to guide me. I think also SAK does not always pay that much patience for beginners; it was only a lucky shot for me.
I only like that all beginners have the same Chance what I had.

Yes, it is useless for most every Situation. In some rare case it is maybe suitable.

Sorry, I'm not able to do it. For me the way how CP handles it until now was very ok. Asking a Question was simple.
Also I like to mention: The possibility to join CP without being a member is GREAT! One of the important "Details" which makes CP attractive. Please don't destroy this with artificial burdens to ask a question here.

I changed my E-mail in CP for authoring purposes but CP doesn't send me a confirmation E-mail. I get other things from CP such as my article being published but confirmation does not work--so CP e-mail does get to my new address. When I change back to my older e-mail address I do get the confirmation E-mail. Please help. I would like to use my new address as my older e-mail has too much spam in it to be useful for answering CP questions.
What I've Tried:
I change to my new address in CP and get authoring/publication change notifications but cannot get the confirmation to work
I change back to m old address in CP and suddenly I can get a CP confirmation of my (old) new address
I've done this multiple times back and forth but it's always the same outcome.

The following note appears when searching forum messages only (i.e. only the "Forum Messages" check box is selected) at the bottom of the page:
Note We have changed to default "Sort By" setting to "Date created, descending" since you are only searching forum messages.
Which is fine, but when I try to change the order to "Relevance" from the "Sort by" combo, it goes back to "Created (New - Old)".

I suggest stopping votes on answers after a certain amount of time.
I got downvoted yesterday for an answer I gave in Q & A 4 years ago. My answer was a valid one (and the question was rather not so), but I guess someone still disliked it.
Moreover, not the case here, but questions could be updated making an earlier answer invalid.
of course, just a suggestion.

Conversely you could get upvoted too. If someone finds an old thread by googling their issue (I can haz google? Unlikely, I know  ) and they find your solution then they can upvote it if it's good, and that adds to the rep of the solution over time.

he he, I thought of that, but the likelyhood of an upvote is afar less than that of a downvote and in most cases, even after a few weeks the threads are not actual anymore, anyway

I tend to disagree. I've had very old posts upvoted-usually after someone has resurrected an old post but sometimes after a Googler has been in.
Had down votes too, granted.
