I got the Uber app to work, once, Wednesday afternoon.
Seems that a second credit card number did the trick.
Wednesday night, in Las Vegas, no such luck.
Thursday, I could not make the app work.
Over a 90 minute period, my E-Mails went unanswered, so I gave up and paid a cab.
Upon return to my hotel room, I found that Uber responded, apparently three different guys to my three different requests for help, and apparrently 5 or 6 hours after I sent the original messages.
This is the one that I noticed the most...
I just checked into the phone number you provided me and there seems to be an issue caused by verification processes, in order for me to provide you with an adecuate level of support, would you confirm the following information please?
- Email address you use on account.
- Picture of the last 4 digits of the credit card on file.
- A picture of your government issues ID.
Has anyone else here ever received a similar request from Uber ?

If the Uber drivers are like most taxi drivers... they are NOT 'Mercans....
I walk by a taxi stand every day and have yet to hear a language I understand.

That applies to all the taxi drivers round here also; but they are still nice people.

Have you actually called Uber and discussed all of this with them? I think red flags have gone off for you, so act on them. Call the company. Just my 2 cents.

Requirements...
- The human must be alive
- The human must be an actual employee of Uber
- The human must answer the phone
- The human must speak American (in fact, any variant of it)
- The human must be physically there on the line and speak with me in real time.
Uber does not have living speaking humans.
Uber does not have a phone.
Please, prove me wrong. (Please, please, ultra please)
Yesterday, I found a cab whose fare was lower than Uber's !

What have they not seen ? A phone number.
I remain open to seeing that phone number.
You rest your case ? I remain the student. I have never seen a phone number for Uber to this day, and no one reading this thread has seen anyone produce one.

I'm still kind of sad.
It worked stupendously back home.
Trip to airport, less than $10, nice guy, living speaking human, everything.
You know what's really going to astound me ? I'll probably get back home, and the app and system will work perfectly again.

IMHO, my opinion here...
If Uber and companies like Uber are to survive and thrive, in the long run, then they need to have an adequate customer service department. People NEED to speak to other people when there is a problem.

They want a picture of it?? Sounds like they're hoping you send a pic of the whole card.
Add to that the bad spelling and it's clear this is a phishing attempt.
