I admit I haven't cared about certification for a while (but I do miss the exams, strangely), but I'm assuming it's a move away from Engineer? Either way, their (and everyone else's) certification process is such a fast-moving treadmill these days.

Who could afford the time and money to keep up with them.
By the time I think I have something about ready to go take it is outdated and would have to start over again.
So I just study for the Information I need and not worry about the cert.(for now)

It sounded familiar to me as well. I might seem a little alarmist, but the notion of a satellite broadcasting microwaves onto my head sounds a little unpleasant.
I imagine those kind of details have been worked out, and the chance is small that Nero could get a hold of it along with some red matter to blow up our planet.

We see so much emotional discussion about software process, design practices and the like. Many of these arguments are impossible to resolve because the software industry lacks the ability to measure some of the basic elements of the effectiveness of software development. In particular we have no way of reasonably measuring productivity. How long is a function?
