AFAIK, window.top is not part of any standard. It looks like it works only with Mozilla.
Declare a local variable and assign the return value of window.open to it(assume variable name is searchWindow). Hook a JS event handler in the logout button click. Inside this handler, check searchWindow and if it is assigned, call close on it.

1. You can try to use window.showModalDialog instead of window.open. Though this is not a W3C standard, Firefox supports it now.
2. You can try Observer design pattern, each popup windows opens, add itself handle to the close event.

When compiling a resource file I am getting a series of warnings, for example:

Hi all,
i am developing a 3-tier asp.net web application on C#, with an Access database on the Data Access Layer. I have developed some reports on my Access database.
On some aspx page i want to fire / open a certain Access report when the user clicks on some ImageButton, but i have no idea how to do this, and what are my chances on displaying it. I have searched on the web with no good results.
Anyone can give me a clue how to do that, or provide some link with basic info?

I am not sure if it is possible to show Access Reports from asp.net.

I'm busy developing a website and ive hit a bit of a snag... again!
I've decided to put the content of my site in a table(the borders will be invisible or "0" after i get this to work right). Ive mocked up the table in a plain HTML file, here is the code for that.

Now what seems to be happening is that when i put the logo in the cell it belongs, the corresponding columns width increases.
How can i get the columns width to stay the the way it is irrespective of its content?
Note: I need the cell heights to dynamically increase as content is added, and it is doing this correctly

hi,
following will help you out, in order of its importance.
1.) quickest -- Tablecell has a "wrap" property. Set it to true. This will wrap the contents inside it and the width will not increase.
2.) right from the first TableRow's Table cell apply the width is "%" only rather than "pixels". This makes sure you have very dynamic layout rather than a stringent one.
Also, please make a note that, HTML will surely have some limitations when it comes to displaying a particularly very large picture with any of the properties set.
3.) toughest -- alternative of all will be to check in your code whats the approximate size of your pic and if that size is considerably large, you will have to convert that pic in some other format with little loss of color and sharpness and include it accordingly in your TableCell for your application.

how can i get the value out of a dataset?
My code looks like this:
GridView1.DataSource = dsProductDescription.Tables["Product"].Columns[2].ToString();
GridView1.DataBind();
I keep getting the column name. The dataset has 3 columns ID, Product Code and productdescription. I need to select the product code from the dropdownlist and then the description should be displayed in the textbox.

In selectedIndexChanged event of DropDownList add this code:
textbox1.Text = ddlControl.Text;
dropdownlist's DataTextField property have to have column productdescription.

an it will never run. 5 minutes is LONG time for webpage to process things. The client will timeout, unless you kept it undating it frequently.

You can not run from the website background. Let me take that one back, technically you can run the timer, but you got to remember, website is inheritly stateless. What that means is, you objects will get created and as soon as the page is done processing, it will get sent to the client and boom, it is gone.
So, what you want to do is, write background application (service may work for you) let it run on the background updating your database.

may be no client open any page of the site, but I must increase that values every 5min
5min in an example, may be some times every 1hour, and some times every 5second
and this time is not related to any user login in!
