The text is also far too wide. The articles seem to have a fixed width of 110 to 120 characters which makes them very difficult to read. The average book has around 60-70 characters per line (and uses columns if the page is bigger than that). There are very simple readability reasons for this and reading some of Knuth's typesetting work would be helpful... but designers have big monitors and like to assume that everyone else does too and they all have their web browsers maximised on that big monitor. But we don't. We read things side-by-side and like to limit the width of the text to something that you can actually scan back and forth across.
