Healthy body = Healthy mind.
Healthy mind and clear inspiration = Great work.
Developers in particular underestimate just how much of a burden their bodies and minds are adding to the work load. It's not something that's discussed often enough and the few chances we get are struck down as stereotypes.
All stereotypes begin with a grain of truth. Time to own up to it and do something about it.

I won't lie... I'm a big fan of caffeine too and in small doses is all fine and good.
But the more you stop those burdens with caffeine, the bigger the burdens tomorrow... and more of the caffeine you will need.
It's sort of a "Runaway Greenhouse Effect" of the body.

The obvious missing choice: a cash-card of some sort; preferably not specific to any store. Can't go wrong with choosing the gift if they choose it themselves.

But for a passionate developer, give him a good problem to solve and he'd cherish doing that

Don't get me wrong I like giving and receiving gifts. But at the same time I think most people are absolutely impossible to shop for. Either what they or I would want is too expensive to give as a gift, or cheap enough that the receiver either already bought it, or doesn't really want it.
There is of course the 3rd category. Stuff where you are getting something that is in the right group of things, but not the exact right thing. "Awesome! You got me a laptop. Oh... what am I going to do with a Mac?"

Yup. I have to restrain my impulse shopping to make sure my family members have affordable options to buy me gifts. It can be annoying at times.

I'm one of those people. So I generally ask for gift cards, generally for a specific store, and pool it all together to get an expensive thing (that's how I've purchased most of my computer).

I'm fairly impossible to buy for. Considering I make more money than most or all of my relatives, I probably already have what I want. And anything I do want but don't have is out of their price range (e.g., a Mac).
And I'm extremely picky. For example, my aunt is my only relative who has been able to buy me clothes that I actually like. And I really don't like getting gifts I don't want, because then I feel like I should hold onto it even though it's just taking up space.
