Try accessing the .HTML page that is generated with the project. This will eliminate the ASP.NET part of it.

I am new to Silverlight. I have a requirement to create an Xml from the DataGrid i.e. the Xml should have the data fetched from the datagrid rows. I need help on this.

The concept seems fairly simple, assuming you do not want to use the underlying data object. loop through the columns to set the field names, then loop through the rows of the datagrid writing out the values.
I would probably use a combination of the 2 methods, use the datagrid to define the columns from the underlying data source to use then just write out the data.
There are plenty of articles about creating and writing xml to file the only challenge is assembling your data.

Why? This is a very curious requirement, in that you have just effectively stated that the data is driven from the DataGrid rather than from the DataContext. If I were you, I'd use the underlying data to create the XML rather than the DataGrid. If you are using SL4, then the DataGrid uses UI and data Virtualization, so it's entirely possible that not all of the data is loaded in the grid, so it would be unwise to rely on it.

I am not sure there is any specific 'instructions' that cover that because I have not seen anything different about it that deploying any other type of app that uses WCF. The only odd thing you may NOT be aware of is that all services in Silverlight HAVE to be async in nature. Not everyone seems to know that part.

Thank you for the link but it does not help me as I am not using azure, etc.
At present, I have created a virtual directory on the webserver which point to the web project folder (Which I copied from my machinen to the virtual directory on the server).
On browsing to the site, it says page can not be found.
Any ideas please?

I have deployed the silverlight 4 application which uses wcf.
In the wcf, there is a file called test.xml
How is it possible to view this .xml file which sits in the wcf project.
I can obviously see it in .sln but when I deploy then I do not know where to find the .xml file which sits in wcf.
Question:
How can I manually browse to this .xml file please?

My .sln contains a silverlight 4 project, wcf project and obviously the web host Defaultpage.aspx
I can run the .sln and all works fine...
I would like to test it on my localmachine first by being able to browse to the address...
I have created a virtual directory. Under default web site I have created a virtual directory called mytestsite and it points to the web host folder.
Question:
When I trype something like the following address http://localhost/mysite/defaultpage.aspx
Then it does not browse to it.
It says the website declined to show this webpage.
What do I need to do so that I can browse to the web address for my test app please?

I want to display some stuff in a scrollable grid using WPF. Things to go in the cells are numbers, strings and icon style buttons, often with a few of these things in a single cell. Now because of the way you can embed just about anything inside anything else in WPF I'm thinking about using a grid panel inside a scroll viewer, and using something like a stackpanel in the 'cells' to hold the buttons and labels etc.
If this were GDI, I'd be thinking about using a 3rd party grid or maybe even rolling my own to do this - I'm quite comfortable in this arena, but not so sure in WPF.
So my question is what are your opinions about doing the above? The grid could have at worse about 40 rows and in an absolute extreme about 120 columns - hinting at some sort of virtualization strategy. Any suggestions gratefully received particuarly if they don't suggest buying something. Quite new to WPF still and not sure the best way to go.

If you're using WPF 4, you should already have the WPF DataGrid in your toolbox. If you're still on 3.5, install SP1 and get the WPF Toolkit from http://wpf.codeplex.com
Sure, you could roll your own if you like, but it's not necessary.

you can't add a reference to TIBCO.Rendezvous.dll as it was not built against the silverlight runtime. Silverlight projects will only work with silverlight assemblies.

This error is telling you that the version of the framework that you are targeting is completely different from the version this DLL was written in. In other words, there is no compatibility at any level as one uses the Silverlight assemblies and one doesn't. Now, bear in mind that you would be expecting the two frameworks to be attempting to run in the same application process space, how do you expect it to load and run two different sets of some of the same assemblies at the same time?
You can go from Silverlight to none-Silverlight assemblies, but you can't do it the other way round. I see that TIBCO have partnered with MS on Silverlight functionality, so it's entirely possible that they have a Silverlight version that you can use.
