I mostly agree; you should note however it was Chris who invented (or borrowed?) the rep stuff. And adding clarifications to the rep FAQ would reduce these continuous questions and discussions...

I don't hhink it needs its own forum. I think the FAQs could use some sprucing up. In fact, the site needs a centralized FAQ page that links to all of the FAQs, and a link to that page should be placed just above the "Articles" section on the left-side menu.

Some loopholes in the rep FAQ are causing lots of redundant questions as of late though.

Yeah, I already know about that, but the new guys aren't apparently able to find it.
Maybe new users should be required to read the FAQs before posting anything on the site. That way, they can't say they "didn't know" the rules.

Gimme a break, John. A Wikipedia-sized FAQ wouldn't address some of the questions about rep points. I don't have anything against rep points (or the pursuit thereof); I'm just tired of seeing them whenever I read this forum.
Where are my rep points for [ voting up | voting down | not voting ]?
How come my rep points [ went up | went down | stayed the same ]?
Do I get more rep points during the week or on weekends?
Je suis Canadien. Dois-je obtenir des points rep plus?
Why aren't man-points included in my total rep points?
...
I'm sick of them. PLEASE put them in their own forum.

I'm completely with you on that. There's no single page on the suggestion board these days without someone asking something about rep points.

What are the point totals? To my mind the following would be the right way:
Vote Points<br/>
5 5<br/>
4 3<br/>
3 1<br/>
2 -1<br/>
1 -2
However, a user has noted that a vote of 3 gains him -2 points. Is 3 truly the new 1?

that should be explained on the FAQ page, but it isn't. The FAQ only deals with upvoting and downvoting.
In an earlier answer to some question I once stated that 4 and 5 were 'up', 1 and 2 were 'down' (implying 3 was doing nothing rep-wise), and Chris confirmed. It still matches my observations.
I wish each such question in suggs&bugs would lead to an improvement of the documentation, here the FAQ page. That would reduce the number of times we get the same questions asked here, and allow for shorter answers to them too.

I think that observation was not correct. One should not try and observe rep effects on people that are participating in a very recent Lounge thread, too many things are happening at once.

All I know is that the vote's are weighed according to rep points from the voter.
For instance when I vote someone a 5 there rep will go up with 10 points.
I can only imagine how much the reputation will go up when you vote a 5 but it should be a lot more.

A 3-vote is essentially a non-vote. No points are given or taken away from the author.

Then how come in earlier tests a vote of 3 did change the reputation of the receiver.
It was in a forum post tho not on a article (does that make a difference?)

We've simplified it so that there is either up-vote (5,4), down-vote (1,2), or I-can't-decide-vote (3).
If a member gets a vote of 3 and loses rep then we have a bug.

Hi
Sometimes i'm looking for some solution, and end up bookmarking many articles before start analyzing them.
The problem is that once i chose the one i like the most, i want to delete the other ones from the bookmarks.
But the only way to do it (that i can see) is one by one. And that can be tedious.
My suggestion is... could we have checkboxes to select multiple bookmarks, and commands to apply teh action to all selected.
