A reply to a question give an authority point, but a reply to a reply is a debate point.
Seems logical.

It probably is, most of the time, in non-programming forums; and occasionally in programming forums too.
However, quite often a programming forum thread is a technical discussion where, in a simple case, a question gets answered with a real answer or a request for extra information, then new information is provided and/or a new question is added, etc. So it is often a Q-A-Q-A-Q-A sequence, however by default only the first two get a significant default icon; all the others, whatever their intent or content, are "General" by default and hence qualified Debator material. Here[^] is an example.
Manually setting the message type to Question resp. Answer (as I did on this occasion, to no effect, which is normal, as this is Lounge) suffices to change the qualification, but is easily forgotten. Modifying the message type in a later edit, has no direct consequences (not sure if it has after a recalculation, I think not).
But that is all minor, as I said before. Giving the points to the right or wrong person is the issue.

Thanks for digging into this more. We've already flagged this as a bug and we're just waiting for a chance to dig in and fix it before re-running the rep-history script.

Hi Admins,
Is there anyway to stop spamming messages or block the spammers?
I am one of the victim by the group/member: joeabcd[^] in one of my article forum: Silverlight 4: Interoperability with Excel using the COM Object[^]. You can find a no. of posts by this group posting ADS for Nike Shop. Is there anyway to delete such messages or mark the user/group as SPAM?
If this feature is not available in CodeProject, can you please work on that and make the site SPAM FREE?

Few days back, I was going through the forums blazingly fast and 5'ing any post I found it deserves. Then I got the dreaded message "You or someone at your IP address has been voting too often. Please wait a moment and try again". After sometimes, my voting rights was restored but my rep points seems stuck where they were. Do we get penalized for instigating the dreaded message? Do I have to sit in the corner for few days now?

I'm aware of the daily limits. Once the limit is reached no further points can be awarded.
May be I failed to clearly explain in my original post that, my rep points have been frozen for days now. Say if I sign in daily I don't get any 'Participant' points. If I undertake any action that rewards for 'Organiser' I get zip, nada, zero, Ciro... This has been happing for few days now.

Most of the rep points seem to work properly.
Participants should typically grow one per day.
However I do have a strong impression Organiser points are very wrong right now (and probably have been for more than 3 weeks now); I need time however to diagnose and proof, before I post in sucks&bugs.

Today I had to reply to one of those questions which is asked very frequently. I did a CodeProject search and wanted to paste the search URL in the answer. But there was no change in the URL after the search. As far as I remember this is not how it was before. Can I know why the behavior is changed? I mean, it's so easy for us to paste the search result link to answer these questions. If there isn't something important behind it, can we have it back?
