I just looked at my naive daughter's Website and she knows absolutely nothing about programming yet has a shopping cart up there that makes payments into PayPal. I find this extremely encouraging. I sort of heard that there are turnkey shopping carts that you can just drop into a Website, and I'll be that's exactly what she's done. If she can figure it out, I'll bet you a dollar that I can figure out how to do that. But I thought you needed an Internet Merchant Account in order to do that. Maybe only if you want to use things like Master Card and Visa.

Anyhow, in the last couple of months I've taught myself SQL Server and ADO.NET and they're probably like rocket science compared to dropping a shopping cart control into my Website. So in spite of Mark Nischalke's judgment that I'm too feeble-minded to do it, I'll just bet he's dead wrong in his opinion that I won't be able to successfully build an "eCommerce application," as he puts it.

To demonstrate even more of my ignorance, I'm not even sure what he means by an "eCommerce application." Does he merely mean a Website that can collect money? That's all I need! I've got the application itself that I want to sell. Sounds as if the shopping cart is actually one of the smaller pieces of the puzzle and that I already have everything else.

It's amazing how much you can learn by asking "dumb" questions on the Internet. All you have to do is be willing to take completely unwarranted insults.

Why don't you wander over to ...

(1) Microsoft and download their demo applications, and perhaps even their video tutorials.

(2) Paypal and look at their guidance pages for processing Paypal transactions.

They really are helpful and you can learn an awfully lot from them. You can't expect the CP members to "hold your hand" every step of the way.

Paypal is pretty straight forward. Just read their web pages. No humiliation was directed, directly or indirectly, at you.

I don't know why it isn't apparent that my problem was SOLVED long ago on this thread. Can't people read my titles? I don't understand why additional replies keep coming and coming. I wish everyone would just get over it.

Don't blame your employer. Unless you live at your work 24x7, you have the ability to learn anything you want.

I find it very unlikely that anyone with 20 years experience has not heard the term eCommerce, at least once, even with the months of self-taught SQL and ADO.NET it should have popped up somewhere.
Also, having worked so much with WPF and C#, obvious Microsoft technologies, it is not conceivable to me that you did not accidentally stumble on something ASP.NET or web related.

resize window to (100, 100)
disable any further Resizing,
disable toolbars,
disable scrolling...

Actually a code which forces the user to close the window.....
It become difficult for him to proceed further...

If you are OK with your site only working in Internet Explorer then showModalDialog is exactly what you need. But in terms of user experience design, maybe there are better options the members here could offer if you explained your situation a bit more.

Hiya everyone,

I have a dynamically generated (using the innerHTML property) set of list items that're floated into a 4-column list like follows:

</ul>

The container that this list is in has to be able to dynamically resize. I've added overflow:auto to add scrollbars when the content in the box overflows.

BUT, when the container is resized small enough, instead of having a horizontal scrollbar (the vertical one works fine) the rightmost <li> gets pushed down to the next line instead of staying on one line with the other 3 <li>s and overflowing off the side of the window, making a scrollbar appear.

I've already tried white-space:nowrap in half a dozen places. Refuses to work. I can't use a table either, as dynamically writing a table causes a runtime error in IE and I want this code to be as compatible as possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated (note the extreme emphasis on greatly)

I am using asp.net 2.0 and ajaxPro in my web application.

1. How can bind my dropdown inside ajaxPro method, without using HtmlTextWriter?
Is it possible?
All the server controls are null inside the ajaxPro method.

2. So, i have created dynamic server controls inside the ajaxPro method and used HtmlTextWriter and rendered in javascript. Here in javascript, i can't able to get this dynamic controls by using getElementId method.

document.getElementId(asp.net control id + "ControlId");
but it returns null.

I have no experience with this particular product, but usually converters leave you with a messy source. It's better to rewrite/restructure your base to the new platform. That way you also gain experience.

I have a proxy setting in IE, which I do not want to change.

Also I have this piece of code

HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)
WebRequest.Create(url);
HttpWebResponse webResponse = (HttpWebResponse)
webRequest.GetResponse();

The problem is that, this Request is trying to go through the IE's proxy settings.

I want the request to not go through the IE's settings.

How can I achieve this ?

What do you mean? When viewed in your email client, like Outlook, the form is not getting filled in? A form is rendered by a web server, which Outlook, or any other mail client, is not.
