In IIS go to the directory where you have your code. Open the properties window, go to the directory tab and make sure there in an application name and an application pool assigned. In fact, they have the same size when in designer view of vs. But when I ran it using IE, the password box is shorter. I tried running it on firefox and it looks normal. It just looks odd when using controls such as a login control. I've not used password text boxes in .NET 3.x. I've also not tried password text boxes in IE 8. Till .NET 2.0 and IE 7 I've not seen any difference.
