Today here and there I get Firefox(Minefield 3.7a1pre) errors telling

I think it's just you. Sorry.
Maybe network issues mean you are missing out on bits of the page, and that is causing parsing issues, or maybe add-ins you have installed are messing up the parsing.

Hi,
Today I just notized that the read-messages/visited-links on the Quick Answers are getting half transparency in IExplorer 7. I had different colors (Blue not read, Purple read, Red upvoted and white downvoted) but today it is being different.
Did you change it? Or is it at my side? (I didn't installed, modified anything in my computer)

I would say (for me) it is not helpful or unhelpful, just different (maybe for other people it is helpful). I already had changes of color when I visited a link. For me it is just a matter of getting used to the new settings.

there seems to be something wrong with the x-axis of the graph showing page views for articles.
I clearly remember the page view graph for this contest entry LPTextFileDiff: another textfile compare utility.[^] to have two peaks, one the day the entry period was closed (01-SEP?), and one the day the winners were called (21-OCT?). However the x-axis shows both peaks in December and January.

The data is correct. The spikes for the previous dates were at 800 and 1400 views in a day.

Since then I receive none.
Could you please set it to a happy medium of one copy of each.

Do you have more than one account setup for CodeProject? Sometimes, people will have an account setup for emailA and another account for emailB. And emailA will forward emails to emailB. Then, when CodeProject emails get sent to emailA and emailB, the one from emailA gets forwarded to emailB. Assuming the user only checks emailB, he/she would see what appears to be duplicate emails.
Not sure why you aren't getting them anymore. Perhaps your spam filter decided to mark them as spam since so many duplicates were being sent?
Those are just some things you may want to consider. The problem could very well be with CodeProject.

I think I was getting two copies because I had signed up, forgot, and signed up a second time.
I don't think it is a spam filter. I have an outlook rule to move CP stuff to its own folder. Spam gets put into the Junk E-mail folder and no CP email has shown up there.
I did receive the notification for the two replies posted.

I have same problem. The last I received was on 31st Dec 2009. I also check my settings and save em again. I even sent them a twit but it seems CodeProject does know much about twitting.

We need a notification for the messages posted if someone replies to one of my posts I get a notification, just like FB.

That already exists. When you post a message, select "Send me an e-mail if someone replies to this message". Pretty sure there is a setting to turn that on by default. Make sure your email is setup correctly and that CodeProject emails aren't getting sent to your spam folder.

I don't want an email I want a notification here on the site. I can't afford every time to go and check my email that will be a havy load on my connection.

Don't know if I'd want that funky AJAX notifier they have on Facebook at the bottom of the page. That thing is always buggy. Although having a number in parens next to your login at the top of the page would be neat. Then, when you click it, you get a link on your profile page to see recent responses. I'd second a vote for that.

We can certainly implement some type of notification. The trick is: what are we notifying you about?
If it is a number of messages posted in reply to messages you post then the best we could do is show you the number of messages that were posted since you last logged in, and provide a link to those messages. Due to the way the forums are done there's not really a concept of having a message "read" since we load up to 50 messages on a single page each page view.
For Quick Answers we have more leeway, though, so we could specifically list those that you have not read.
How's this sound?

I'd say just list all responses (to messages, quick answer answers, and articles) on the same page. Perhaps make it a paged control that shows 50 per page, starting with the most recent 50. Might also have an unread view. You could just make each message type (forum reply, quick answer, article post) have a different style to be able to quickly visually identify them.
As far as showing the number of unread responses, you could just mark a message unread when it gets clicked via email or via the list of recent responses. Perhaps clicking the message to expand it would also mark it as read (or you could have a "mark as read" checkbox at the bottom of each message or next to each item on the recent responses list).
Or to simplify things, you could just show the number of responses that have been added since the user last looked at the recent responses page.
Or maybe just show the number of items that have been added in the last 24 hours.
You could also combine some of those ideas. Perhaps show the number of items that were added in the last 24 hours, and make it bold/red if the user has not visited the recent responses since the last item was added. And you could make that 24 hours user configurable, so they could change it to 1 week, for example. Or maybe you set it to twice the average period between each visit to the website for that user (although that would be problematic since some users don't always log in when they visit). I'd personally just make it a setting. You could also set the threshhold for number of messages required before the number gets red/bold. For example, maybe a user only wants to be notified when 3 or more responses have been added (to read them in batches rather than each time one appears).
As always, those are just some ideas. Take from them what you will or won't.
