I think it is not available in most of the browsers ... It is IE specific. Not in w3 standard function list.

Rather than using Window.open navigate to the page. Use

Dear all,
I want to access user name from the url written like this format
http://www.codeproject.com/username1
user will enter his user name after website name. Remember that user will not enter user name as a query string like
http://www.codeproject.com/username?username1 (I don't want this type of entry with url by user)
when i am using this (http://www.codeproject.com/username1) type of url I have tryed to access user name from global.aspx -Application_BeginRequest event. i have searched that after the website name if the string (here username1) is not with . (i am not permitting to use . while user name created) it will redirect to download page with query string.
like this:

string theurl = HttpContext.Current.Request.Path;
string theFileName = theurl.Substring(theurl.LastIndexOf("/") + 1);

It is working properly on the local server. but on the server it redirect to 404 (page not found) page. not running the Application_BeginRequest event.
Than what is the best way to achive this.

Sounds like your server is not configured properly or doesn't have all your code uploaded to it. Are you sure download.aspx is present ? What if you type in the new URL directly ?

Thank you for reply. 
download.aspx is present on the server. and it is opening properly when typeing the url manually on ther browser.
But it may be server is not configured properly. On the control panel of this website a error 404 (page not found) is set to a html page by the hosting provider (godaddy.com). And that page is showing while i am trying that code.
There are other options of 404 Error Behavior are:
Use home page:
Use custom page:
If i set a custome page to a aspx page. I think it will open but where i wil loose the username (here username1).
so how to solve this?

Fix your post so we can see the script. Use the 'do not interpret HTML tags' checkbox.

Put your CheckBoxList inside a Panel control and set the Panel's ScrollBars property. Also fix the Height and Width of the CheckBoxList.

I am using scriptManager and JQuery in a same page. when i click anywhere on that page i am getting following error.

Error: 'top.screenLeft' is null or not an object
When i debug this its pointing to following code in scriptResource.axd

please give solution for this.

I'm getting error in "using Qse;" please help me.
locally it's working but after uploading on server not working.

The error must mean your code is not present. Are you sure it is ? If so, perhaps you need to just force refresh your page to force it to compile and load ?

How can we know ? I would assume you want to look at hte source code to see how fonts are added. Then you want to research if the fonts you want are going to be on every computer you want this to work on ( does this include Windows PCs only ? ). Then, if you think it's OK, add them.

Dear All,
My datalist paging is handled at page_preinit with dynamic link buttons. There is a combobox affecting the page count. So the number of pages is changed by the selected value of the combobox. However I am unable to retrieve this information at page_preinit. I tried hidden field and javascipt, however also hidden field value comes null at page_preinit.
Please help me...

your hidden field is empty precisely because you're in pre init, and you're in pre init because it runs before viewstate is restored. Why does this number change while it's on the client ? I mean, why is it that when you serve a page, you don't know when the next page is requested, what the number will be ? If you do, then put it on the URL, or in the session.

this.Request.Params["yourid"] as in Pre_Init controls are not initialized... You can only find the data in Params or Form using its id. Or you may use Page_Load.
