Hello,
I have a datalist in which I show some item.when I click on any item its item command is fired.But the problem is the progress bar is start progress after (5-6 sec) and the user think either the site is not working or nothing is happen.Can someone please tell what is the problem and how to solve this.
Please help me.

I have placed a chart control and I want to change the chart type to bar in the code behind. Is there a way to do it?

RDLC is nothing but an XML file....
Read the Xml using FileStream object,
Move to the place
<chart>
<Type>Bar</Type>
</Chart>
And change the type Bar to anything.
You can load the Xml using Stream using LoadReportDefinition method of Reportviewer which has an overload which takes Stream as argument rather than directly passing reportpath.
Hope you got the idea.

Good Day all
I have a Usercontrol that has a Gridview and its hosted on my aspx page and the aspx page is defined like this

I have wrapped all the controls in this page with a updatepanel and as you can see this is a content page of the master page. Now before I had no updatepanel and all the controls are alive and active, after I added a updatepanel I have several controls that does not respond. One of them is the menuActivityDelete, this menu hovers onmouse over , but after the addition of update panel there is no hovering and the grid in the usercontrol does not respond. Now I debugged it by putting a break point and I checked the code behind and It does executes the code but gui stays as freezed.

Yes.. Updatepanel Creates a new form at runtime and posts that with all Viewstate and all to the server. While the page is posted back from the server, the updatepanel will freeze the controls in the client and the user cant do anything with it.
As per my recommendation, I can see you placed everything inside the update panel. Rather than this, it would be fruitful to you if you place only the things that you need in the server side to be posted back.
Use more than one Updatepanels in the page and post only the things that you need through AJAX.
This will do the trick I think.

hey Buddy you are right , i have to leave another part of the page that is not used often to flicker so that it can open a way fro other controls that really don't need flickering.

I have a dropdownlist with existing items. If the user can not find a correct entry in the list, I want him to be able to add a new item to the list immediately. Is there a way in the webform for the dropdownlist area to be treated like a textbox for dataentry purposes.

Better do one thing take dropdowlist, beside ddl put one button called add and when ever click that button its visble textbox and add name replace to submit . i think this way ll be use for u.
