What you need is a GIS application (believe me, you don't want to write one yourself - these are seriously complicated). There's an open source implementation called SharpMap here[^]. Beyond that, you need the actual map images - and these are going to cost you, unless you use something like OpenStreetMap[^].
Alternatively, you could (as others have suggested) just use Google Maps.

Hello My Friends
I think some misunderstanding happened.
I don't need the GIS application or web solution.
I only want insert a simple ground map (no a map with zoom capability or street map, only earth map) in C# and each times determine certain latitude and longitude in the map with color point(for example).

Reza - a GIS solution is still your best option. If you don't have one, then the maths behind your lat/long can be seriously complicated due to issues such as Mercator projections.
Basically, when you represent a sphere (technically the earth isn't a sphere, but let's keep things simple) in a 2D format, you need to distort portions of the unwrapped sphere to represent it. This means that you need to take things like altitude into account when you perform your calculations.

I implementing a application for satellite orbit predicting, and in my program need the insert satellite in the certain lat/long on the map.

Fine, so why doesn't GIS satisfy your needs? Please read this[^] link and then think about how you are planning to tackle this - all I ask is that you don't try to reinvent a particularly well defined wheel.

I create a application for the track the browsing centers with their ip address.
1) First they install my application in their system then only they access the Internet.
2) Second they could not kill my process because if they kill my process i could not track them.
3) So how to prevent my application process from End Process in Task Manager and also hide my application process from the Task Manager and System Tray.
They also Uninstall my application without my permission. How it is possible using C# code. plz help me with your useful ideas.

There is absolutely no way this is possible. The only way to do it, is to set the machine your code is running on so that the login people use, does not have access to task manager, or add/remove programs. Otherwise, it's a fantasy. There are things you could try, but all, by definition, can be defeated.

His explanation is plausible, and it sounds like the sort of job that would be farmed off to the third world and end up in the lap of someone who didn't know enough to know that it's not possible. I mean, who else but a third world outsourcer would commit to writing this, THEN try to find out if it's possible or not ?

That is a very very small minded opinion! Plenty of development shops in all countrys have a track record of commiting to things without knowing if they are feasible.

Easy, in part...
If you're a network admin writing something for a bunch of users on an Intranet, write it as a system service (Running as the System account), and don't give your users administrator rights.
Then they won't be able to kill the process, or uninstall it... It will still show up in Task Manager, and there's nothing you can do about that.
Other than that, you're pretty much out of luck. No one here is going to help you write malware, or anything that acts similarly.

I use the following code to add linkbutton to footer of a grideview, but it cause error sometimes!!!!!
In my computer as local server it works, but another users see the error.

With code. How about posting some code so we can see what you're doing wrong ? I thought it returned an int anyhow, if not you should be able to cast it. Code and an error message would help us.

First of all - what's the exception? Secondly, there's no ExecuteNonScalar command (I assume you mean ExecuteScalar here). Third, retrieve the value into an object, and then use int.TryParse to attempt to convert the object into an integer.

If you're querying an int from a database with ExecuteScalar, then the value is already an int, you don't need to convert it. All you need to do is use a cast to unbox it:
int x = (int) cmd.ExecuteScalar() ;

Hi,
Has any one every used the latest version of the patterns from www.dofactory.com? I am working through their code and some stuff don't make sense to me. When I enter the service layer from the client side (code behind), the call a mathod like GetProduct, and this method will return a ProductResponse. In this method the GetProduct method is called from the ProductDao and it returns a Product object. Then the Product's properties are assigned to that of a data transfer object, and this is returned.
Can someone please try and explain why they would use it like this, especially requests and responses? Normally requests and responses are used with web services, but they don't use web services here. Is this a new way of doing things?

I've not looked at the most recent patterns but judging by the fact they've got a service layer it implys the design would be using a web service or WCF. It is possible that the design will be for a multi tiered app with a service but for simplicitys sake for the setup they've made it a logical service layer rather than physical.

Thanks. How do you rate the previous design that they used? Do you think it is good implementing? In the newer version they had a service, but you don't have to use it. You can disable it. I disabled it, but there is still the request and response objects.

It helps to understand what the service layer actually is. It's not tied to being a web/remoting layer - instead, the service layer is the layer that coordinates the interactions of lower levels to produce a response.
Consider, for instance, a holiday booking system - you might have a service that books a holiday at a foreign destination. Behind the scenes, the service layer talks to the resort booking management system, the flight reservation systems and car-hire systems. As far as you are concerned though - you've talked to one thing, and it has taken care of all the lower level detail work. Where this layer really comes into its own, is that it can control the transaction lifetime; in other words if one part fails to commit, you want the whole thing to fail to commit - across the separate systems, who wants to book a car if the hotel reservation failed.

Thanks for your reply. This service concept is new to me, so I am trying to understand why it is necessary if I don't make use of an web services at all. Is it maybe best practices to do it this way if it is just a plain ASP website? The DoFactory solution made use of web services, but they said that if you don't want to make use of the web services then I could make a couple of changes not make use of the web services. Is the service layer still required if I do not make use of web services? Because the service layer calls the facade objects, I can always bypass the service layer and call the facade objects directly from code behind?

I think they may have confused the issue with the whole web service thing. As I stated, the service layer is a coordinating layer - see the whole transaction idea.
