Not sure about you guys but I find that the time of day (or rather how long I have been awake) is a big factor. I do not get much development done in the mornings and so dedicate it to production, proposals, specs and answering emails. Only about midday do I really get into the swing of things and start zoning in properly. I find about 6pm I am at my peak and then taper off to about 10pm.
As for the location. I like an open plan, relaxed busy office. I do not need peace and quite.

I’m the exact opposite. I frequently am to work by 6 or 6:30 and can zone on a project straight to lunch. The afternoon is a different story; I really find it hard to zone especially as the clock gets closer to 5. Part of this is due to increased distractions that occur in the afternoon. I would probably work better if I had a door to shut. There is wishful thinking.

Me too. I started getting into this groove about a year ago when I noticed my coding was really terrible in the morning - and I spent the entire afternoon cleaning up the mess !

Yeah... i find it nearly impossible to get anything done in the morning. I do rather like peace and quiet though... a good set of headphones & some music can sub for it if necessary though.

Hmmm, I'm just the opposite. I am most productive from about 5:00 AM to noon. Take a nap, work out, have lunch, and hit it again from about 3:00 to 8:00 PM. But my afternoon work is primarily clean up and debugging or documentation stuff - nothing that involves original design.

True, the time is very important as well. But my favorite time would usually be the morning, and the worst would be just after lunch. Even though I'm not use to have a nap, I always feel asleep for some time after lunch.
As for the morning, I believe that my mind must work at night as it is usually on morning that I find solutions to problems I've been stuck in all day before.

When I work at home, I can work when I feel like it. If I go to the office, I may not feel like working just then, and therefore I may not be as productive. I may be more prone to say, browse the new content and answer questions at CP .
When I am at home, I usually only sit at the computer when I feel like working, hence I am more productive at home.
