hi all,

Im using ajax timer and Update panel for load some data in my home page Asynchronously, and its time to time it should be change, but there is a problem of ajax says

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.
Details: Error parsing near '

but im not use any Response.Write() in my code,

Then i used to create a own javascript function using XMLHttpRequest (same as Ajax) and i execute the separate page and return the string function, but i want to set there my all asp server controls (such as label , link button etc..) and bring into result page,how can i do that.Pls help me to do that.

Hi All,

I just want to post a question in relation to intranets in asp.net.

I have just finished my course in programming and have zero commercial experience in programming in c#. I have a potential small business client who wants me to design an internal basic intranet system (web based) which enables document management and file sharing , etc . I want to ask if this is too big of a project to take on as I am worried about 2 factors in relation to designing intranets:

- Do I need to use a CMS like Sharepoint to safeguard the security of the application. (Hence I have not used Sharepoint)

- Is it possible to hard code everything from the start to design an intranet? or is it too difficult to take on.

I really want to get some experience as well helping them out, so is this a good project to do or am I better off with something more simple.

I suggest you start getting expreince by starting developing that intranet.
Collect all nessecary information from client,do analyze for project,design database and start writting code,when u stuck in any problem post here and someone can hand you.

You can use SharePoint as well as you can develop ASP.NET application.But Sharepoint will be easy for you.If security is main concern,you can use SSL.

I'll suggest you start developing some small applications for practice and also you can catch some guy who is bit experianced.It'll be very helpful to you.

First up all, before starting the project you need to capture as much as possible information about the site. Means requirment analysis. Start desinging of application, develop some small prototype for the potential areas which you can create some problem. Similar way just move ahead.

You can also look into that, if your site is all about document management then its quite easy to developed using Share point.
Catch up some mentor who can guide you for doing this, as this is your first project and start development, if you found any problem ask here.

Hi there

I wrote a web application and it was working fine with no errors in my local server and the live server. My system lost its data and the hard drive got corrupted. So my hard drive was replaced with a new one. When I configure the web application on my new hard drive and run it, it was working ok except for the part that is has date selection on it I get the following error

Exception Type: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException
Exception Message: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
Exception Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Exception Target Site: Read

I didn’t change the code or anything; the same version is working on the live server with no issues. I don’t know why it is giving me this error in my machine.

Any ideas??

Problem is here. Did you check the stack Trace? Which part of your code throwing the error ?

Thank you for your help... but I am still having the problem and I don't think there is somthing wrong with the code... I thing I ahve to fix it in my system settings but I don't know hoe to do that...
