Well then I can't understand why I can't get my control to show when I add it to the form's Controls collection:

MyControl newControl = new MyControl();

Form1.Controls.Add( newControl );

newControl.visible = true;

And the control doesn't show up. Sigh | :sigh:

I understand what you mean, but what "coding" could possibly cause it not to show up?

I just created a new UserControl, plopped some controls onto it, and that's it.

What should I check?

Yes you can use it directly, however, a better approach would be to package it as a separate assembly. Chances are, if its worth creating a custom control you'll probably use it in future project also.

i have done major portion of the coding in C#. got some image processing applications to perform through MATLAB. my platform shud remain C#. can i link the two? if yes, How?

If you search this forum, this has been asked countless times.

In short, you can use COM or p/invoke to call methods that are in non-.NET projects.

why not?
Three ways to connect to matlab
1. Using Matlab COM
2. Using P-invoke
3. Using low level C DLL API or Stand alone application in matlab

I have worked on all of these, if you required any further help feel free to ask

Better if you try to distinguish the functionality in C# and matlab(using Scripts)

Absolutely no chance! you know how hard it is to even get decent facial recognition software working well? Let alone detect the lips to the accuracy you would need to eventually have any kind of recognition for spoken words.

Even for a specialist in this area I think it would be a massive challenge. I don't usually like to discourage people but I really think you want to try something a bit more, well, achievable.

There are many things that are just not possible.

Thou, your problem is not one of them. However, it will not be possible by most 'current' people. The fact you are asking for even the basic of help means that if you are to achieve this then you are a long way off. By all means, go for it. My suggestion would be to start by finding yourself a good 2D Graphics Book/Course.

This[^] might be of some use to you, it deals with facial recognition and a simple google search turned it up.

I doubt you'll have much luck getting more refined source code, you will probably have a huge undertaking of research and development before you have a destributable product, this isn't a small project.
