I want to read word file which is on client side, Is that possible to read it without uploading to the server?
I found from some site that u can do it with activeX control, but nowhere it has mentioned how?
Ok if it is only possible to read it by uploading. I want that upload control not be shown.
My requirement is that on a link button that file dialog box should be shown and that file get posted.
I tried it through javascript like:
lnkImportLensList.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById('" + FileUpload1.ClientID + "').click();");
it shows the dialog box. but page get postback and no value will be there for posted file after that.
Can anybody please suggest?

You need to write the activeX conrol yourself.

Hello Everybody,
I have used an update panel on the page and it refresh data (getting from Database) after 5 seconds using timer control. Everything doing fine, but after a random time (may be after 1 hour or 5 hours or 1 day or 3 days) update panel not refreshing the data.
Anybody can say what type of problem it may be??
Please help me..

i want to create table in runtime
actually in web page, user will select colors and each color have number of sizes.
now i want when user colors i have to create the textbox equal to its sizes.
suppose the user have select red color and red color have 2 sizes then the datatable will be like this:

in the above table 0,1,2 are sizes of red color

your basic issue is that anything you create after or during page load, won't have viewstate. What do you want to do with colors ?

After searching a lot on the net, i am posting the question here, to get the solution how to get the current/changed value of the textbox which is in the update panel; on click of the button.

Thanks a lot padmanabhan N. It is working fine; but it is really new to me how it is working now; when page's postback event has been fired and i have following in showdata:
Public Sub showdata()
dv = CType(SqlDataSource1.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty), System.Data.DataView)
TextBox1.Text = dv.Table.Rows(Session("r"))(1).ToString()
End Sub
what is the relation with the postback's true/false?

The postback is doing all the things. The loop your write inside the postback will fire only when the page is loaded and the value will be maintained and the loop wont be executed after that. So, if we write the code after the loop will be fired in even and every postback. just keep the breakpoint in the page load and check. You can see for each and every postback the pageload event is fired.
So each and every time the button click it fires the page load first and then the button event. So, the showdata() will clears your modification and the original data will be set. For this only you got the old values.

i am unable to connect database to my web page in visual studio. i have created a separate web form in my project. i add an sqlDataSource from the tool box . i just entered into configure data source option and created a new connection. i got an add connection pop up window in which i have selected sqlexpress as my server. i have selected my database name and when i click ok i am getting an error as follows
object reference not set to an instance of an object

How did you tried to connect with DB? What problem are you getting ? You have to more clear and specific while asking question in the forum. Please read forum guidelines before post.
