I am using Mysql as my database.
i insert the date in the format DateTime.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy") but the strange thing is its gets entered in dd-MM-yyyy format.
EVen if i manaually entered the date in database in dd/MM/yyyy and retrive the value from database , its get the format as dd-MM-yyyy.
where is the prob???

There is no problem. Databases don't store the date in a specific format - Don't know about MySql, but SQL Server and Sybase store it as a number, its up to your code to display it how you want. There will be a default format from the database (usually defined at server level) and its up to you to format it how you want.

Thks for ur reply, but it didn't solved my prob.
Interesting thing is date format dd/MM/yyyy in getting inserted correctly on my PC.
but when i deployed at client location its gets entered as dd-MM-yyyy format
coloum Type is varchar 50.

I think it's a localization problem.
Save the date in MySql Date format, not in string.

When displaying a date (and inserting it into db in a varchar column) without specific formating it will display the way the date settings are set in Windows.
First of all you should use a date column type.
Then you can either instruct your client on how to change his OS settings (not recommended)
or do a format of the date.

If you had said that in the first place it would have been obvious, its a localisation issue nothing to do with sql. Use a proper datatype and your problem will be solved.

sorry sorry that's not what i want....i want to show display privew of web cam befor i take the photos. that mean once i connceted to device i need to start show webcam video on picture box.that's what i want.

Hi,
i have a excel document saved with temp.xls name.
i wanted to open this xls file as a new xls doucment,
not with the name temp.xls doc, and if we close the doc,
then documnent should ask the user to save file else
where.
give me suggestion to solve this problem.

Your question is very hard to understand. You want to have a file called temp.xls, but don't want to open it as such? Create a copy of it and open it. If you don't want it to be overwritten, make it read-only.

tnanks for reply, actuly i saved an excel file into temp folder,
and if we open this file and then close it from upper left corner 'X'(close) button then excel document do not ask to save
the file, untill i don't do any modification in file.
so what i want, if i launch temp
file and then user try to close the file then document should ask
the user to save the file, if user want to save the file then it should ask for the filepath where he want to save, instead of using temp file path, beacuse i am using it for temprary purpose.

Hi guys,
I got a Oracle store procedure which would return dataset using a ref cursor,it's quite easy to get the result set if I use the classes in System.Data.OracleClient because there's a type OracleType.Cursor which matches the procedure parameter's type.
But is it possible to do this via ODBC? There isn't a type likes 'OdbcType.Cursor'.
Anything you can help it would be appreciated.

Hi,
I need to work with Excel via C#, but I'm having problems getting started. Keeping it simple to start, I'd just like to open a new Excel workbook.
MSDN describes using code like this:
objExcel = new Excel.Application();
objBooks = (Excel.Workbooks)m_objExcel.Workbooks;
objBook = (Excel._Workbook)(m_objBooks.Add(m_objOpt));
Yet Excel is not recognized by the compiler, which I'm assuming is because I haven't exposed the right namespace.
I'm not sure what that would be. Intellisense is not offering Excel as an option anywhere I've looked. Elsewhere I've heard about using ADO.NET, but haven't seen anything I can get to work.
If anyone has worked with Excel via C# I'd appreciate any guidance...

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. For some reason my compiler is not recognizing the Office part of the namespace.
If I use Intellisense after Microsoft it gives me [Contracts, Csharp, Internal, SqlServer, VisualBasic and Win32.] Not Office.
I'm using C# Express. Could that be the problem. Maybe I need a higher level version?
