I've just discovered you can do this, which is cool:
slider.BeginAnimation(Slider.ValueProperty,
new DoubleAnimation(slider.Value, newValue, animationDuration, FillBehavior.Stop));
Just like Core Animation, I had no idea that was possible. The question is, when I do this, is there any way to make the animation more in a non linear way, so it starts slow and gets faster, or vice versa ?
Amusingly, I just found a class called AnimationTimeline. But, it doesn't seem to take To and From properties, and generally doesn't respond well to googling, so, still need help....

John - I've started to use Bling[^] to work with animations. You might find this useful. Alternatively, Blend allows you to specify easings by manipulating the keyframe spline.

There is AccelerationRatio and DecelerationRation but they are not that customisable, the next version of WPF and Silverlight support built-in and custom easing functions.

Hi All, I want to show one dialog box when user closes the browser.
I have added the code in Application_Exit :
HtmlPage.Window.Confirm("Do u want to save your data?");
So that It shows me the OK/Cancel box, which is fine for me. But I want the event for YES so that if user says YES then I could save the data and if he says NO then I do not save the data.
Can anybody have any idea????

hit a page that has a Silverlight control on it
But as mentioned, since Windows Forms is Windows-specific, you can use WPF.

You can use webbrowser controls in winform and WPF. then, you can show the Silverlight content on that browser control. but why...

I know nothing of version 1, which is obsolete at this point anyway, but
Silverlight 2+ has a System.Threading namespace with the familiar Thread,
BackgroundWorker, etc. classes.

Hi,
I have developed 2 windows in WPF . In Window1 Window_Loaded i have created the window2 like this so that the window2 controls will be intialized during startup itself
private void Window_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
Window Window2 = new Window();
}
And iam only showing the window2 on the button click from window1, but the window2 display takes about 4 to 5 secs.
Is there any thing do be taken care which iam missing.

Without knowing what is done inside Window2 before it's allowed to be displayed, we can't help you.

Is it really a Window ? Not a derived class ? I assume not. Try setting breakpoints in your code to see which part of the process is taking that long.

That Silverlight was meant to be used as the latest web technology but things as basic as making use of forms authentication or membership seems to require that the developer build services that extend these services to the Silverlight application.
It just seems odd that MS would release a product architecture that is meant to replace ASP.NET interfaces but then cause so much extra work to have to be done.

Silverlight is a browser plugin - nothing more.
Silverlight is not a replacement for ASP.NET, it is (depending on
one's experience) an enhancement.
Silverlight runs on a client. ASP.NET runs on a server.
It makes no sense to build server services into a client technology.
Sure, we'd all like to see the entire .NET framework available in a
browser client....pretty unrealistic though.

I get all that... it just seems strange (to me) that a technology that was so clearly targeted towards a rich interactive experience requires this effort.
I really seems to look like Silverlight was only meant to take the place of web-parts and other technologies like that, but I am not sure if it has maintained that focus. Sure I could build an ASP.NET site that uses Silverlight components to fill various areas within the page, but I am not sure of the simplicity of that aspect either right now.

Yeah it seems better suited for people like me -
I don't have any ASP.NET experience so the HTML bridge and
javascript stuff is totally greek to me, yet I have no problem writing
the services I need, so for me it's a relatively minimal effort.
That's just from my point of view...
The .NET RIA services should help bridge Silverlight to the ASP.NET back-end stuff -
especially for people like me who don't know ASP.NET....but that's not even in beta
yet - I could really use it NOW
