Hi Abdul,

Here is the issue
Response.Redirect always throws Thread was being aborted exception as it needs to kill the current proccess,

So ideally you should not have Response.Redirect("Page2.aspx") in the try catch block.
use Response.Redirect("Page2.aspx",false)

Make sure don't use Try catch uneccessarily it hits the performance by direclty catching the genereic exception.
First check what exception you might get, if no exception expecting then don't put any try catch block

For Best one you need to consider the Performance of the application
Don't put try catch untill and unless you got any exception in the QA and provide the specific exception instead of generic.

Please don't ask me it may help you in this implementation.
Better buy a book on performace stuff or take google help so that it will help you while implementing any task.

hai.. i want to copy a file from a remote machine to a local computer using the ip address i hav given in the text box of an vb page..

this s entered in the text box of an vb
ex:remote machine 192.168.3.153

this s my system ip
my computer: 192.168.3.36

how to copy a file from that given remote ip to my system folder.

also wat to know how to specify the folder path...i am dng this s for my project..kindly help me with a suitable vb code....

You mean you want to copy a file from given IP addres with known path
to your machine.

have a look at below link for vb code just refine the search.

How you will come to know file path for the given file ?
Make sure you have access to that machine.

Few suggestion
1. Make sure the file exit at the given location
2. Put the destination ip address and file path in config file
3. Not sure the path from where you have to copy provide input option

s..i wil give the source and destination folder in both system respectively...first thing i want to know is...i want to track the system with ip address entered in a textbox.

Track means what you want to do?
Do you want to store that ip address in the DB or file structure.

what i want to do is...in the code to copy that particular file from a remote system..i hav to insert this ipaddress present in the textbox...because in the textbox the ipaddress and consequtively the remote machine address changes(since i hav list of active logged in remote systems,frm that i will choose one ipaddress that will b displayed in the textbox...)..cleared??

OK
you need to copy a file bases on user input IP address
If IP address is not correct then you will have to check login user and his IP address

Then do following things (My suggestions)
1. When user gets logged in store his IP address in the Session or DB.
2. Use this IP address to copy the file or user input IP address.

If you can get the IP address when he logged in then why are you asking him to prvovide in the TextBox ?
