what are the codes in detecting unused icons using visual basic language?
when i'm going to open my computer,there was am pop-up window saying "there are unused icons in your window". Can you give the codes?

What do you mean by 'unused icons' ? By 'window' do you mean 'desktop' ? Do you know anything about computers at all ?

There is no code for this. Windows keeps track of which icons have been used and which ones haven't internally. AFAIKT, there's no API's specifically exposed to determine this.

I am creating application which is working fine.when i am changing its cpu type its generates error

Error 2 Warning treated as error : Possible problem detected while building assembly 'applicationname': Referenced assembly 'mscorlib.dll' targets a different processor
Please help me for resolving that issue and what is the use of mscorlib.dll.

What you did is build a 64-bit application using the 32-bit .NET Framework. These are ignorable warnings.
MSCORLIB is the core of the .NET Common Language Runtime. Without it, your application will not run.

I mean, I loaded multiple modal popup extender, and i am only calling a single asp panel for popup.. anyway, disregard this post.. sorry for lack of info.. i've already figured out how.. thanks..

Hello,
In Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) and Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727.
Right Click Toolbox--Choose Item--.NET Framework Components--Check on OracleConnection and OracleDataAdapter--Ok
Now double click OracleDataAdapter1 in the toolbox.
Data Adapter Configure Wizard appears. Click on New connection.
Add Connection dialoge box appears.
Click on change.
Change Data Source dialogue box appears.
Here i am getting only 2 items:
1.Microsoft Access Database File
2.Microsoft SQL Server Database File
And in Data Provider combo box; only ".Net Framework Data Provider for SQL Server".
I am not able to configure my OracleDataAdapter1 control by choosing above method.
Please help and guide me.

Does this machine have Oracle's Client software installed?? If not, you start there. Then you move on to installing Oracle's .NET data provider. It does not come with Visual Studio.

Machine have Oracle 10G Client and Server well installed. I am able to use Dim oda As New System.Data.OracleClient.OracleDataAdapter() and it is working fine; but i wish to configure oracledataadapter by using above method. Moreover, it is possible for me to configure oracledataadapter in Web Developer 2005 by above metohd, but not in VB.NET.

the control crashes the visual studio i mean studio closes using this control automatically.
any idea to remove this bug. ??? i need to add 25 text elements to be marqueed using this control but i m unable to do this. NEED HELP

OK, the best place to ask is at the bottom of that article. I've never seen this guy's control, nor used it. And frankly, with a 9 month old scurrying around the house, I really don't have the time to dig into his control to see how it works.

Hi, I am new to this forum and also new to VB.
I was looking for a way to create a Gantt Chart type calender view, and I have seen the article posted on this page by Jean Marc[^]
However I need to create a calendar in VB and was wondering if it was possible to either customize the MonthCalendar view of Visual Studio 2005 or maybe to use a DataGridView? The calendar should be linked to the system calendar and ideally show a time span of over three years. Each day should be one column, and I intend to drag & drop boxes (events) into the grid.
What would be the preferred way to develop such a calendar? And is there a possibility to post a screenshot in this thread, because I actually have a visual guideline which I could post.

i am using a combobox which is bound to a dataset with a bindingsource
i have set the displayMember to one of the dataset columns ,
what i want to do is add some additional text to the elements displayed text in the combobox ,
for example to the first element i would like to add '1'
and to the 2nd element '2' ....
any idea how i might do that ?

Add the information into the dataset before binding. You cannot do this via the combo, you need to manipulate the underlying data.

there is no toString() method that i could override to get that results? ,
altering the data seems a bit extreme for this task and the problem is the selected element in the combobox is also bound to some other text box that i would like to stay as it is.

You're problem is that the combo does not control the data, that is completely at the mercy of the underlying dataset. You could add another field to the dataset purely for combo display, bind the display member to the combo field and the textbox the the original field.
What you are not going to be able to do is fiddle with the data via the combo control.
