Is this a dynamic page? If not then you can create an aspx with desired controls and then can call window.open with the newly created page name.
Be careful, there is no Undo Button(Ctrl+Z) in life.

Hi,
I have a Web Application which referes to COM components for various reasons.
These COM components are built in VB6 and works fine when executed from Windows application from my machine.
This means, COM components are properly registered on my machine. When I gave reference to these from my Web App, respective Interop.<xxxx> DLL are created.
The COM component is the described as - "Microsoft VBUpgrade Tool TypeLib Visual Basic runtime objects and procedures" in VS.NET 2008 reference properties.
Question : I am getting following error when I try to create an object of VBRUN.PropertyBagClass
Error Message : An exception of type System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was raised and caught.<br />
Message: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {D5DE8D20-5176-4EF2-8581-7B534D2AC56E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.
Stack Trace pointed to the line where object was being created
I searched google and came to a conclusion that I need to give rights of COM component execution for ASPNET account. I tried DCOM Configuration but am not sure to whom give the access rights and of what ?
It would be great if you guys give some sort of pointer to this ? Also wanted to make sure that my conclusion is right ?

Hello,
In Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) and Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727.
Right Click Toolbox--Choose Item--.NET Framework Components--Check on OracleConnection and OracleDataAdapter--Ok
Now double click OracleDataAdapter1 in the toolbox.
Data Adapter Configure Wizard appears. Click on New connection.
Add Connection dialoge box appears.
Click on change.
Change Data Source dialogue box appears.
Here i am getting only 2 items:
1.Microsoft Access Database File
2.Microsoft SQL Server Database File
And in Data Provider combo box; only ".Net Framework Data Provider for SQL Server".
I am not able to configure my OracleDataAdapter1 control by choosing above method.
Please help and guide me.

Hello Everybody
I am developing an online restaurant management system. If order has been placed by customer then it should be printed automatically. As I thought is:
1.Check database order table index has been increased or not
2.If increased then print the order
For this I have to refresh my page once in a minute as I thought.
Now I am sure it is not a good solution.
I will be really grateful if you give me some idea for my project or leave some website address where I can get more help.

I'm not sure I follow. Why do you need to refresh ? Is this on the restaurant side ? Why not generate one report with all the orders ?

Oh, I see. Well, the most obvious solution is to use AJAX. Actually, I wouldn't have the restaurant side running in a web page at all. I'd probably set up an inbox for orders and email them as they are placed.

But I need to auto print on client computer if someone place any order. How a client computer will know order has been placed.
Also I need to send mail to customer and the restaurant computer as well.

Well, your options are:
1 - use a mailbox to deliver orders. You could investigate a custom mail program that recieves the mails and does whatever you want with them
2 - write a webservice and then write a fat client program that calls the webservice regularly to find any new orders, then again, you can do what you want with them
3 - ( this is the worst idea ) use AJAX to write a site that keeps pinging for orders
The thing is, a fat client app, however it works, will be far easier to write and maintain for the restaurant, the web page only makes sense as a way of exposing the client side to users.

i am getting date error when i use
convert.todatetime(datevalue); or datetime.parse(datevalue);
as well as at the assignment of
datetime var=new datetime();
var= textbox that contains date(dd/MM/yyyy or MM/dd/yyyy).
using britsh date settings in control panel dd/MM/yyyy works fine
when i change date format from control panel. i get date error.
how can i get rid of this problem...????

You should always use TryParse, b/c your users can enter values that are not valid. Apart from that, you need to tell users what format you expect.

I want to bind my gridview with a table in session(not from database). Can I provide th inline editing facility(as provided by using sqlDatasource). ie when i click edit a text box appears in grid view to enter the value.

You would need to store the table in the session, b/c it needs to persist between postbacks, that's what the data base is for, usually.

You can easily bind a table in session by casting it i.e
grid.datasource = (DataTable)Session["Datatable"];
grid.databind();
And providing inline editing is also possible.

Have you thought it might be being blocked my the server or the mail client? You don't even have any logging in the try/catch, how do you know an exception isn't being thrown?
